It also says this further down.

Okay? but that's just saying the HDMI 2.0 ports don't support 4k@120hz, and don't mention the 2.1 ports for some reason. As far as the official Hisense UK site says here - https://hisense.co.uk/tvs/all-tvs/a85h/

these are the specs for the A85H HDMI ports -

and then these are the A8H hdmi specs on the Hisense SA site here -

So according to the Hisense UK and SA sites, all the ports should have ALLM, not just the HDMI 2.0 ones. Also not sure why they say it only does 4k@60hz in the article under features for gamers but then it says 120hz for 2.1 on the Hisense sites. Thought the point of HDMI 2.1 is that it supports up to 4k@120hz.

In any case, not big on gaming, was just hoping to find some more reviews on the tv because it always feels like a bit of a gamble with Hisense, but that price on takealot is seriously tempting. Have a few of you guys had hands-on experience with the A8H and maybe know how it compares to other OLEDs for mainly movies and series?

Okay so had some normal sun at 3pm, with curtains open, yeah the uled is better in the sun :)

I took the "chance" after Lupus posted the pics. From that it looked great, but if I encounter any issues or don't like the TV then I'll just send it back to Takealot. Then onto the U8H and see how that works out :X3:

Will keep that in mind thank you, Current Samsung 55J6200 TV is on mostly in the evenings. Was looking at the Hisense/Toshiba Z770, but there is something strange going on in the 4 corners of the display, almost like it is dull/dim/half lit.
There is some minor backlight bleeding/vignetting on my Z770, You can't really capture it on camera though. I don't believe this is uncommon for the display type I would imagine there's some panel lottery involved. I only notice it on solid colours, white is the most egregious. As for the dull/dim thing It could be that the settings were messed with when you looked at it, there are some settings that dim the screen substantially (active contrast for one). If I had known about the OLED one I probably could have gambled on it but at the same time my TV faces a window so there's going to be some light and I am not the fondest of reflective displays, I've always preferred things to be as matte as possible.

Took this pic earlier for my Bluetooth Speaker thread. That’s where the 65A8H will be going, which shows the reflections from that angle and the right-side windows of my lounge. They have non blockout curtains which I don’t mind closing in the day.

Behind where I took this pic are 7-8m glass sliding doors which let in lots of light, particularly late afternoon sunsets. It has blockout curtains which I also don’t mind closing. To the left of the sliding doors is a stairway up from downstairs, with large glass windows. I also have blockout curtains here. I usually keep one of the above sets of curtains open, so as to not be in too much of a cave.

Based on the curtains, I think the A8H will be fine during the day.

It's between the A8H, U8H and LG C1. The A8H lacks reviews though. I wonder hows the upscaling on it.

Personally I could not justify R35k - R45k (Black Friday - normal) for the 65” C1/CS over the 65” A8H at R23k when it will already be replacing a decent TV (Samsung Q7). Have a 55” CX in the bedroom (and 48” C1 elsewhere) which will make for a nice comparison against the A8H.

If you’re looking at 55” then the CS at R19,500 is a good deal if affordable to you compared to the A8H at R15k.

But then it’s probably worth going bigger depending on your space and viewing distance, and getting the 65” A8H at R23k…

I'm looking at about 3.5m away from the screen. Set my sights on the 55 inch variants. 20k is the maximum I can spend and that too is stretching the budget. From what I hear Oled is the best in a dark room. If for whatever reason burn in does occur, I wonder if it still falls under warranties.

What do you have now? Based on paper specs and @Lupus ‘s feedback, I don’t think you can go wrong with the 55A8H. Not sure how long it will stay at R14,999… And really, don’t worry about burn-in. Just practice due diligence and don’t leave your console on a static screen for hours every day (LGs auto power off after 2 hours of inactivity with the remote).

The TV does some pixel shifting after 5 minutes, then it goes into a standby mode after 10 minutes, a few times I've left it, get deliveries or let people out.

Well there we go, burn-in won’t be an issue unless in extremely exceptional cases like extended PC monitor use.

The A8G will probably be close to the LG A1

I wouldn’t even consider the LG QNED 806 over any of those. The only good QNED (mini-led) is the 856 series and not sure it is available in ZA (and probably is also in the LG C-series OLED price range)

I have a Samsung 1080p tv and monitor. I usually use the tv as a secondary monitor. Might need a dynamic wallpaper from wallpaper engine. Would love to compare Oleds side by side in person and test some content.

Plenty people using 48” C1’s as monitors with no issues. Again, due diligence. Can’t go wrong with OLED and it will be a massive step up.

Noticed someone who purchased the a8h just gave a review on takealot. He mentions the processing could have been better....I pretty much expected this, after all you usually get what u pay for you can't expect it to be on par with the likes of lg....I just hope the processing is atleast around 80% as good.

First Takealot review is in on the 55A8H. Four stars, critiquing the OS and processing.

How does one determine processing though? Lagginess in operation?

Hisense 55" A8H 120Hz 4K Smart OLED TV with Dolby Vision & HDR10+

Who knows he doesn't elaborate on that. Could be the OS processing, he's lucky he never used Vida 2

Hopefully it's just lagginess (which my Apple TV will solve). ;)

Still trying to find out what processing he's complaining about. Gotta love incomplete reviews, doesn't mention lighting, blooming or anything just processing. So who really knows
