[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

How strange, shortly after my forum post.. There's a courier at the door, the TV arrived. They did not communicate anything to me, luckily I'm working from home and happen to see them through the window.
Got some set up todo tonight.

They had a lot of "No Stock" excuses for the last two weeks.
How’s the TV bud? Any comments? :)

Howdy!

I’ve been enjoying this TV more than anything else at the moment, so I totally forgot about this thread.

This was worth the wait, OLED is just amazing. Watching movies with the lights off is not as blinding as QLED.

VidaaOS is similar to the TizenOS Samsung TV I had; it has a lot more features/functionality, but that is most likely OLED related settings.

No complaints with gaming on PS5/PS4 Pro;

  • As for the recent article about Disney not yet available on Hisense TVs, that can be a problem for people who want it. I have no desire for Disney+, and if there is something I want to watch on Disney, I will just download it for free and play via Plex or via an external drive.
  • I could hear a difference with the Atmos sound, even though the speakers are at the back, there are some extra sound details, especially in action movies that I noticed.
  • Furthermore, I love the fact that the remote has a shortcut for all the apps I use (DSTV, Showmax, Plex and Netflix). There are many others too, which I won’t use.
This was totally worth it for R19k. I would totally recommend it!

The only cons so far:

  • The TV is heavy af, this is not a one-man job to take it out of the box. Never mind mounting this to the wall, I’m definitely paying someone to do that soon.
  • I had to do a panel refresh upon switching on the first time, to “fix” some pixels that you could only see on some dark scenes.
  • GoogleOS would have made this TV spectacular.
In my opinion, anyone buying LG or similar brand OLEDs for almost x2 the price is wasting their money.

Heavy?? More like awkward cause of the big speakers at the bottom :-) but compared to other TVs I've had over the years it wasn't that heavy. I mean my old 42" from 2009 actually weighed more. The TV mount I've got was bought for it back in the day and it's had about 8 TVs on it over the years and the lightest was my old 50"

How is the PS5 on it, any issues at 120hz as it was reported in earlier threads? I've honestly switched back to 60hz on my Series X as yeah 120hz is fine but Dolby Vision gaming looks sooo much better then hdr10

Just be aware OLEDS can and cannot be better on power, on dark scenes they are like 40w on bright scenes they are like 500

LG does both DV @ 120hz :P

Just check the first link you posted, it doesn't link to a valid page it seems. If its for your folks and the use cases you specified, I'd go with the A8G, they won't need anything more than that imho. Although, if image quality is a must, then the U8H would be the better deal, although much more expensive :)

Might as well invest in an Android box whilst you're at it if you don't have one already. Hisense has a poor app experience at times.

Thanks I updated the link. Would you say the mini led image quality is better than the oled. They have a relatively bright room.

The U8h is a normal LED, the A8G is an OLED so one will be better blacks, better motion handling but could also run a little more power hungry.

no.

It would be interesting to count how many mini-led's the ZA 55" and the 65" actually have.

I'm sure it is a fine TV however for 90% of people

Anybody know the difference between these two tv's and what will be the best to get? They priced almost the same. Unlike on these Takealot links, the E7H is normally a few hundred more expensive than the A6H
