[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Give it a try, I mean they may still honor it
So technicians eventually came out. Took them less than 5min to declare the TV not worth repairing (panel itself is the issue not a control board)

Technicians wrote a report to submit to Hisense. I was told to wait 2 days before phoning Hisense back and apparently I then have to phone Takealot and facilitate comms between the 2 of them to get it replaced.

Seems really odd since I've given Hisense my invoice from TA. They should do the rest now.

Anyway, I don't think they'll be able to replace the TV since its EOL, so hopefully I'll get credit....then the hunt for a replacement is on.

Ridiculous. Why make it the customer's problem? Please bring me up to speed but I'm guessing you logged this direct with Hisense instead of via Takealot? Or did you log it via Takealot and they instructed you to log it with Hisense?

At least there's light at the end of the tunnel. Not possible to discuss a replacement instead of credit? What ever maximises your leverage at the end of the day, I guess.

Logged directly with Hisense. To do so they required pictures of the issue, the serial number of the TV and my invoice from the seller (Takealot in this case)

To be honest I'd prefer the credit, assuming it's to the full price of the TV at the time I bought it. The Hisense folks seem to think TA only does credit in these sorts of situations.

In any event I'm starting to look at options for replacement since I know now a repair is off the table.

Agreed, Takealot do seem to do credits. I remember I returned a GTX 1070 3 days before warranty ended, and was credited in full – R8,999.

Very nice!

Wonder what you'll get credited if they do, what was the original price?

If you're refunded that, you could get a pretty decent replacement.
Yeah, thinking I'm not opposed to putting some extra money in and getting something nice.

Perhaps a Hisense U8K or TCL C845. Wrong time of the year through...not much on special that isn't old stock.

Well "old" for Hisense is maybe about 4 months or so

Thoughts about the 75" A6K for 13k?
From some comparisons I googled looks like maybe the better deal compared to samsung CU7000 at 15k, TCL P635 at 12k, and Toshiba C350MN at 11k?

Do you specifically want something that size?

I bought an A6K for my folks and I found the colors and black levels really poor. They love it of course, but for the more discerning viewer they aren't great.

In that price range I'd recommend a higher tier model in a smaller size, like a 65" U6K or U7H(if you can find one)

Kinda yes. I just feel like a 75 will look more "up to date" for longer. My dad bought a fancy 55 inch like 10 years ago which at the time was one of the bigger TVs without getting into the stupid money category, but he paid a pretty hefty R22k back then. It looked big at the time but small now. Same thing years before that with his 47". I feel like TVs are just getting bigger and cheaper and todays 65 is tomorrows 55.

As far as the discerning viewer part, It would be my first TV actually, so don't know if ill be too worried about the colours etc.. But then again I do know crap image quality when I see it. How bad are we talking? I wish I could just see them compared in person. Ive tried looking online, but I cant seem to find out if there are places that would maybe have the A6k on display?

Also, is the samsung really that bad?

If you really need to have the 75 inch I would rather spend a bit more and the U series Hisense. The 75 U6K is 16k at Makro https://www.makro.co.za/electronics...pI0teCK4RSVrqBdRGxS-3K5JTIlEoTesaAqfNEALw_wcB

Sure you should be able view the A6K and U6K in most TV stores to compare

Yeah I see so :-(, it's also a pity that Hisense isn't making the OLEDs anymore, I wonder why that is.
Hisense say that mini led are the new oled's without any of the problems oled's have. (to be honest don't think the quality is quite as good as an oled!) read that some where were hisense said they are not making oled's anymore as of 2023

Thankfully I followed up. Nothing had been done to trigger the credit process.

Apparently it's now done and next step is a booking for collection of my TV and then credit should be approved by Takealot.

Micro led would replace oled, mini led still has bloom.
I checked they claimed they weren't going to make them in 2020 already.
Also Hisense told me they should be getting my main board tomorrow

Micro leds aren't out in sa yet and the price is going to be crazy I agree mini led has bloom that's why I did not want it. We'll the a8h was a 2022 H model, but think they don't want to deal with any oled's for now as their k 2023 models did not have an oled version.
I'm glad theyv got a new board for you, I hope they come install it for you tomorrow and there are no problems. Keep us updated
