[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

i have also had backlights failing - and now two years later same symptoms appearing - but they wont fix it with symptoms that the backlight is on it's way out - they will only fix when it stops working and all they say is "fault not found" but it flickers badly after every twenty minutes of playback - that was the first sign of impending trouble the first time around
Book a warranty and get it sorted. Record a video for evidence

Did you follow up on the agent? I had them come in and replace a main board over a year ago in December.
But the other 3 Hisenses have had no issues after 11 years for one, 7 years for another and 4 years for the other.
Several times but nothing ever happens. It seems like everyone has had issues and needs warranty claims. All of my Hisense TVs have given problems. Terrible after-sales service plus they aren't even that good value for money anymore. TCL is definitely the new king of the block and has better quality as well as bang for your buck. Luckily as a consumer, I get to vote with my wallet no more Hisense Nonsense.

True you do, just find it odd when people have issues sorting out warranties. What model of hisense was it out of interest?

Yeah for some reason I battle with them. I had Dell come to my house the next day after I called them. They were here on Christmas eve to fix my laptop that literally set on fire....that was great after-sales service. Wish Hisense could at least come out lol....the most recent "one foot in the grave" TV is a 85U7H.

That's what I had with my Hisense, logged a fault they came and checked next day, came a week later to replace the board.
They even replaced the power cable that was damaged on mounting the TV.
Though they did say they don't always go out to customers, so it might be area specific. Have you found where a repair depot is to take the TV there?
I had to do that with Microsoft with my Xbox and the controllers, plus my PS3. Very few places actually have come in and repair sadly.

Yeah, they definitely do come out to my area, they arrange a day and time but never pitch. I'll try them one last time to see if it can be saved. I have a dead 65Q8600 in one of the bedrooms so will replace that one with the 85U7H, if they can fix it, and upgrade to a mini-LED. The only problem is Hisense only has the 65" and 75" U8N...same as TCL you can get 85" in the lower and high-end range but not the mid-range. No 85" U8N from Hisense, no 85" C855 from TCL yet both will sell you an over 100" TV for R400k.

Don't know if they have an 85" with higher panels.
Certain sizes of panels will be limited, like 58",60" and 70" will always be low to mid range panels at best, 85" may be one of those sizes.

What about the Hisense 85ux?

Seems to be significantly better than the U8N and C855. It has 2500nits and 5000 dimming zones

Packed up my 55" U7H into the original box and packaging. Everything put back on except the layer of film it had when leaving the factory. Did it with two people but it's a three person job if you want to be extra careful. Hopefully no damage was done getting it into the box or when it gets to the new home*.

edit: *my new home, will likely be moving it in my car, not via movers.

Sold it and getting an LG instead?

I'm in the same boat, itching for a slight upgrade and 85u8n would have been the perfect TV for me at a "cheap" price compared to similar samsung's etc....

After seeing online that it's not available in SA anywhere I went in store to see if I could settle for the 85u7n and it's a great TV for most people but for myself personally was just basically a bigger version of my old 65u7g/h so only a size upgrade not a picture upgrade.

The u8n is definitely much better with the more glossy screen and deeper blacks and brighter picture and contrast.Lets hope they bring something proper for 85 inch this year like the u8n model.

I've seen the 75U8N and the 85UX instore side by side, not a huge noticeable picture quality difference between the 2 in reality like the difference between u7n and u8n is much bigger,so yeah value for money wise I don't see it as being double the money and once you're in that price range of R70k might as well start looking at 77 INCH OLED or others from Samsung/LG.

Based on international pricing and local pricing of the 75u8n I'd have expected to pay around R35k to R38k for the 85u8n which would be a great deal.

Oh and the 85ux is very thick, not as slick as I would expect for a high end modern TV.

Well this year will not be the N it will be like the O or something else as the g/h were 2021 and 2022 models as the K was 2023. So the U7N would've been a picture upgrade as well if you're coming from an H in 2022

I briefly looked at the 85U7N as I want mini-LED but then I remembered that my Hisense TV just bombed out. Third one in 4 years so yeah, I will never buy Hisense (Nonsense lol) again. Look at the TCL 85C755 it's comparible plus it has Android TV and not that rubbish VIDAA. Trying to figure out why we don't get the 85C855 like the rest of the world though as that would be the one to get.

Exactly TCL do this same crap no mid/high end 85 inch locally, their market research teams seem to be crappy in that respect since I'm thinking there's enough demand locally for these types of TV's.

Also my Hisense 65u7g/h going strong for a few years now I'm very happy with it for the price I paid, just don't like Vidaa still usually it's fine for Netflix etc but there's no proper app for put.io so I'm forced to use it via the browser which is a bit clunky and irritating compared to the put.io app on my bedroom samsung tv.

I need to check but think I have the H,not much of an upgrade really, I think it's very similar to my eyes when I saw it in store, perhaps because the H still had a glossy screen and the N has a matt screen

The U8N definitely seems far superior, colours and blacks pop out at you so the contrast is a big upgrade and the brightness too...waterfall Hirschs have their TV's in a relatively bright area with natural sunlight coming through from the roof which is very similar to my lounge with large 5m floor to ceiling windows on one side and a bright dining room on the other side, this allowed me to see what they would actually look like for my usage, glad they done that instead of so many stores which only have their TV's in dark areas.

The U8 would be better than a U7, though sometimes you've got to wonder if the price is really worth it.

For R5k to R8k more from what I've seen in store I'd say most definitely, I would have bought the 85U8N on the spot if they had it.
That is quite a step up, though I've still my A8H which looks really good and in the main lounge an older U7QF from 2020 which does the job. If I want really good picture I go to the A8H but generally for day to day watching the older LED still does the job.
