[Personal Experiences] Hisense TV's

Caleb compares the Hisense U9N & the Sony Bravia 9 TV sets...

Can Hisense Knock Sony Off the Throne? | Bravia 9 vs. U9N - Digital Trends

Not sure if it's changed, but US Hisense isn't the same as ours :-(

This stupid tv.
So since day one I just press the power button on my Apple tv remote and the Apple tv and Hisense power on and go straight to Apple tv menu.
Last week the tv kept going to an update screen when I switched it on so I updated it.
Now when I press the power on, on the Apple tv it goes to the Hisense UI and I have to always get the Hisense remote to select the source.
What a POS.

You just did an update, check your CEC settings and make sure those are still sorted. The update probably reset a few things.

Check whether the update has reset your ARC / eARC (HDMI-CEC) settings for the HDMI ports back to their default setting - which is usually OFF. If so, change it back to ON or AUTO & see if that resolves the problem.

I see they asking for an ID number linked to a TV licence.
Do they just need the number or will they ask for the proof of ID once they deliver
Not sure unfortunately. I bought this exact TV from takealot last year, and just supplied my TV license number. Then it got delivered.

I assume the same would be for amazon, just supply the ID and then they deliver without issue afterwards.

I'm looking for a cheap but decent second TV, anyone have comments on this?

Anyone know anything about this +more ? Looks like their smartshopper equivalent

Thanks!

I have a nice LG in the lounge, looking for a cheap second TV for another room and didn't want to spend too much

Thanks for the link.

After doing some more research I have realised I'm completely out of date when it comes to TV technology.... The SO has said I should wait a bit and get something better as it could replace our 6 year old main LG TV and our existing LG become the second TV instead of the other way around.

Wait a bit for? 6 years is already waaaaaay different :-)

Haha sorry I meant wait a bit as in save a bit more to get something better than entry level

That Toshiba isn't entry level, it's mid level and at that price it's really really good. you may not get a better price with how the economy is going

Was in a security shop yesterday getting some remote batteries and above me a 75 inch for R9999.00 picture quality wasn't half bad. Some obscure brand, name escapes me.

Quick update.
A while back I posted asking about a Hisense TV. Thanks @Lupus and @ands45 for the replies and suggestions. I eventually settled on this :

eBucks came in handy.

A quick review, it's a pretty decent TV for the price. Some detail does get lost in very dark scenes which is about its biggest flaw, the sound is decent for a TV, certain better than my LG but they still TV speakers. Fast motion is handled fair well and upscaling of lower quality streams is surprisingly decent. Overall I'm very happy.

Even at this price point TVs have clearly come a long way since I last bought 6 years ago
