So, my CellC whoosh expires end of December :( It's been a good ride but, sadly, all good things come to an end. Needless to say I need to find a replacement. At the moment I'm thinking of going 8ta 10GB for R199pm.

Can anybody from Vodacom (VodacomData, Jannie van Zyl or okkiemoto) give me any reason why not to go to 8ta?

One option that could convince me is if Vodacom allowed me to load 20GB bundles on my TopUp contract and provide me with a data-sim for use with my USB dongle.

Thanks VodacomData. So, in short, my money is currently best spent at 8ta?

No. But they are going to provide me with 10 GB per month for R199.

That seems to me to be the best deal going around at present. The idea behind my initial post was to give VC a fair chance to obtain my business. So far they haven't really made an effort. Not sure whether to interpret that as a "we simply can't match 8ta on that deal" or "we don't really care about your measly R200 per month".

Yeah but no one has matched 8ta's deal since it came out. Make sure you have 3g coverage because the area I am in is listed on their map but the speeds are terrible.

They also not going to offer you the Dual Sim / Data Sim service as this is something they do not support.

This is true. But at the moment their offering is a heck of a lot better than yours. Doubly so considering the 20GB special is due to end soon.

@Speedster- All have to say to you is;
1) Apply your mind.
2) Do the maths.
3) Study the T&C's carefully.
4) Then apply "Caveat Emptor" at ALL times.
5) Network HSDPA area coverage.
After carefull consideration of all the facts, then make your informed choice.
It is my considered opinion that Vodacom is one to go for any way. I am an exclusive user of mobile data on a daily bases for business and private in my travels, having used and tried all the networks with Vodacom coming out at the top. The few problems with VC were resolved amicabily.

Excellent advise.

Unfortunately most people do not consider all the facts or, at best, change their priorities once they've bought the product.

How often do we not see people say they're willing to sacrifice something for a better price only to be the first to complain (once they got the better price) that they now need the very feature they did not need initially. Seacom and it's no-redundancy comes to mind.

Thanks for everyone's input. I've checked the coverage in my area and it seems pretty good (hooked up an 8ta sim in my laptop). At the end of the day the 8ta deal simply seems the best option. As I mentioned above, I wanted to give VC a fair chance but they simply don't seem to be able to match the offer. No hard feelings or anything, just a simple (and relatively small) business decision.
