dotsure
oneplan
medipet

My wife deals with this but from what I gathered:
- One Plan is the best but the most expensive...too expensive
- DotSure is the "perfect" compromise regarding cost/service

We found the insurance useful for a couple of months especially when our dogs were puppies. It helps cover the first year costs, getting them spayed etc. And then it's useless. Both times we cancelled after 7-8 months.

strange but if you look at the pricing dotsure seems to be the most expensive >> ultimate cover at R650 month versus oneplan "super plan" from R387
medipet top plan is R363

Meh, what do I know :p

Point is, unless you have a sickly pet and intend on keeping it alive with blood transfusions and expensive medication (like one of our friends did) instead of putting it down then the insurance is a ripoff after the first year.

^gonna get flamed for this

Bump.

Got a quote from Outsurance at R491, Dotsure at R505, Checkers at R220, Medipet & Oneplan at R540

This is for 2 4-year old cats that are microchipped and sterilized. Why would Checkers be less than half the others?
Should I just go with Checkers?

What are all their terms and conditions, some of them limit payouts to like R10k

Comparison of plans. The cats are healthy, young cats. I just want to have cover for in case they get hurt or get sick.

Insurance is only as good as your 1st claim payout.

I have been with Medipet for a few years (claim-free). I recently had a bunch of claims for complex issues, for about R15 000.

I am happy to report that everything got paid out less the excess. Very happy

I'm with dotsure, and so far it's been amazing. You log claims online, and I've been paid within 3 days for every claim I've put in. Most of them within 1 day tbh.
+1 for Dotsure for a while. Never had any issues with them, put through quite a few claims when my dogs were puppies (both were bitten by the same stoopid lab)

Now im with outsurance, havent claimed from them as yet. Seems alright so far, theyre on a drive to gain some market share so theyre willing to match/drop premiums.

With Medipet on their top plan, couldn't be happier.

Within 4 months, our pup had a 24k 3-day stay at the vet, no questions asked, paid out. Now nearly a year later, we have claimed nearly 40k in total with never once them asking questions, nor not paying out within 10 days.

Dotsure has been fine for our purposes - no issues and would recommend them happily.
