Peter Nelson was appointed to the Telkom Board as Chief Financial Officer on December 8, 2008. Nelson resigned this position in July 2010. Previously he was the Chief Financial Officer of the Netcare group, a group operating South Africa's largest network of private healthcare facilities from September 2003 to November 2008.
He served as Director of Finance and Administration of Pretoria Portland Cement Company, a company that manufactures and markets cement and lime products throughout Southern Africa, including Botswana and Zimbabwe. Mr. Nelson has served various major corporations at board level over the past 20 years, including BMW (South Africa) (Proprietary) Limited and Mondi Paper Limited.
Mr. Nelson holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree from Rhodes University, a Bachelors of Accounting (Honours) degree from the University of South Africa and is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa).
