Yup that's how mine is. Been like that since I got my garage card and I think I have it now for more than 10 years......
I just get charged per transaction though, last I put in R500 petrol, bank statement reflected R3.05 charge.
 
So if you link the card to your cheque account there's not interest charges?
 
People have become way too card-happy. Cheapest would be to withdraw money from an ATM before stopping for fuel (most garages have ATM's on the premises).

Petrol purchases on garage credit cards are treated just like cash transactions. They charge interest immediately. I'm not entirely sure why it is so with petrol but with cash it makes sense. Since one could draw cash using your credit card, deposit the money in a bank account and earn interest. Therefore to cover this loop hole interest is charged immediately.
 
Better late than never, but just use your debit card only for petrol.. FNB fee saver option with a virgin money credit card.. Bank charges are a distant memory for me..!
