how much petrol will my car consume travelling to durban. the engine capacity is 1.4 polo

starting point might be calculating your average consumption from someplace like the AA,
then multiplying your KM per liter against the distance,
and then taking in to account toll roads, stops for fuel, and age of the car.

If Joburg to Durban, probably 1 fuel tank and a bit if driving at 120km/h, since it is around 568km.

Driving at 100km/h you might be able to just just do it on 1 tank.

i work on R1 per km coz im in permanent 4x4 mode.
It's actually a teeny bit under that but i factor in a bit more in case i hit a strong head on wind

I'm not quite sure but what I do knows is, you'll use less the faster you go.
Say you're doing 120km/h and use 10l/100km, because you get there faster you'll use less fuel than say travelling at 60km/h and using 7l/100km. Simply maths - half the time taken so less fuel used.

Also you're lucky - travelling at 120km/h in a Polo, as it's a small relatively streamlined car, you'll go quicker than someone travelling 120km/h in an SUV or bakkie.

From my house to the Ultra City at Three sisters is 609km My 1.4 Ford Fiesta uses around 38-39l of petrol to get there. This has been fairly constant for the last 5 trips going down to Cape Town. I normally travel at 125 kmh indicated on my GPS.
