Petrol hike....again

So glad I can use public transport. Just bought my Park-n-ride bus ticket from Somerset West to Cape Town CBD for next week (5 days) for R88. Will cost me R88 per day if I used the car.

Looks like reliable public transport is going to become more popular now. Sadly the words "reliable" & "public transport" is seldom found in the same sentence outside of the Cape, viva Le Western Cape, viva!

You're lucky. R88 for a week vs R88 a day...

What I find funny is how people flock to petrol stations to fill up the night before the increase. Have they stopped for a minute to work out exactly how much they save on a tank of cheaper petrol? With the 17c increase looming, I will save a ridiculous R6-80 if my 40l tank is completely empty and I fill up the night before.
Is that really worth the aggravation of waiting in a line, breathing petrol fumes, while people don't think twice to pay R20 a beer at clubs?
I've never had to wait in a queue or go out of my way. I usually know approximately how much I'll save.
