Petrol increase could have been avoided

"and now a new subsidy for paying “wages of service-station pump attendants and cashiers”, the political party said.

What..:wtf:..I though the garage owner were paying them. If not, how long (how much will gov cream off the top) before these paychecks gets to the workers.

eish

This national increase is so they the government can put those pensions back that they used for the E-Tolling system.

DOGS!!!

Most service stations don't make a profit from the sale of petrol. I understand why they need this levy, but not saying I agree with it.

The petrol price should not be regulated. Look at diesel, thats not regulated and some garages sell it cheaper and customers are loyal to those garages.

Petrol increase could have been avoided

The DA believes the most recent petrol price increase could have been avoided if the Department of Energy had adjusted the petrol pricing formula.*more
The DA is just plain wrong here (or focussing on the wrong issue).

Just 3.5c/l of the 93c/l change in price is due to the additional retail margin to pay the increased wages. The biggest part of the increase (88c/l) is due to an increase in Brent crude from about $104 per barrel to about $114 per barrel over the measuring period.

Oh, hon't worry, they'll implement the e-trolls too.

Why can't South Africa just get rid of petrol attendants like the rest of the world?

I just got back from the UK. Amazing - no petrol attendants!

And the shops sell petrol. It takes some getting used to. A 24hr unmanned garage. You put your debit card in, fill up and you are done.

I'm sure the petrol pumps would be stolen if they tried that here!
