Petrol price decrease coming

I still need to sit down and work on the Diesel numbers...

Its more than slightly fishy that Diesel is changing by a lot lower number... Correct me if I'm wrong but Diesel is for the first time now more expensive than Petrol

I could have sworn the diesel prices here were more than petrol for quite some time as I mate with a diesel always bitches.

I think petrol prices are listed as the 'pump price' which you see at the pump whereas diesel is listed as 'wholesale' and what you see at the pump is higher.

Granted I've only owned a diesel for about 8 months....

Might also be the fact that more and more stations are only selling 50ppm which is quite a bit more expensive than 500ppm...

Thankfully I have a truckstop near me so near-wholesale 500ppm is available at any point.

Diesel has always been more expensive than petrol.

In 2004 we drove down to the KZN coast - we were going to take a diesel bakkie, bat ended up driving a Fiat Uno (of all cars :erm:). Diesel was more expensive than petrol back then.

Diesel used to be cheaper than petrol but has since swapped places.
Maybe at one time diesel was more expensive, but about a year ago it swapped around (petrol>diesel to diesel>petrol)

It's that 50ppm is as much as 60c more than 500ppm! Also because diesel pricing isn't regulated.

Thats what irritates me.

Its only 6c a litre more expensive at the wholesale point, but garages are ripping the absolute arse out of it in my opinion. Most garages have 50ppm at like R13.40 or something ridiculous atm.

Government also imposes levies in the fuel price increase. So it's not just the fuel price.

The average price for 50ppm I have seen is R13.65 odd per litre for October. There's a garage in sandton (by curry n all) that does Monday and Thursday special at R13.30 at the moment but their service is so crap I stopped going there.
I filled up on Wednesday at R13.68 a litre for 50ppm. :(

My bad I see it is in the annual budget (I don't watch that  ). But still it is quite a lot per litre for every litre you fill according to RAF.

I was paying less for diesel until September when they decreased the price of petrol but increased the price of diesel.

At the moment the cheapest diesel within my usual travel area is R13.23/l - some 20c more than petrol.
Diesel has always been more expensive than petrol.
I've just been going through my receipts - in August I paid R12.98/l for 50ppm - the price of petrol at the time was R13.13.

Yeah, thats what I thought.. Diesel used to be cheaper, but the muppets have fiddled the figures and now its more expensive.

Thankfully I can get from my local truckstop which is R12.69 for 500ppm.

500ppm will require more frequent oil changes. So depends on the cost of those to how it breaks even.

I have a 13 yr old double cab... 500ppm is just fine, it still gets an oil change every 5000 - 7000kms.
