So I was trying to get my wifi adapter to work but can't.. basically tried the whole ndisgen way of generating a freebsd driver based on the windows equiv without success.

Is there perhaps a firewall equiv i can use for ubuntu maybe? can i port pfsense to it perhaps? or should i just keep looking for ways around it?

Actually Ubuntu works perfectly with it. Its a Trendnet tew-648ubm Wireless N adapter, pfSense is built on FreeBSD so not exactly sure how to proceed :-/ thought i had it when i read about ndisgen but alas it didn't work. LOL last time i used FreeBSD was at UCT in the early 2000's so yah.. feels like linux when it first started taking off haha :p

Anyway if anyone can suggest something let me know. I wonder if there is a pfSense port for Ubuntu :p

Basically I want to use the wlan to connect to the adsl as a pppoe wan connection.. maybe i will do something else with it. still considering options but the key point was that i needed the firewall to work with it. Other than playing around with the wlan on my ubuntu vm, i havent done much with it on the pfsense vm because i just cant get it recognize it :( my fault for not realizing FreeBSD hasn't become as easy with hardware as Ubunutu.

Zentyal is based on Ubuntu and includes all your Proxy/Firewall features out of the box.
