When I got my first phablet, the Note 1, people laughed at the stupidity of using such a large phone. My kids joked that it looked like I was talking to a slab of chocolate held against my ear. Not cool at all. Kids disappeared when my phone rang in public. I got the Note 2 the day the first ones landed in CT.
Now Nokia and Apple were told by market analysts that they must each bring a phablet to market or lose market share. People have accepted phablets and now actually like the big screen phone/tablet thing.
Wow ... how quickly things can change. And then there are those who stubbornly accuse Samsung of being copycats only ... that they do not innovate. Interesting how history repeats itself. Companies go into this zone where they just sort of freeze and stick to what works for them ... and the next moment someone comes from behind and go past them at pace. Ask RIM/BlackBerry and before them Nokia who were thriving on a successful bouquet the one moment and then got the rug pulled from under their feet by a competitor that "just now" looked innocuous and stupid.
How long before we see more phablets from others?
