I have the same tv. I bought it in November for 14K and I'm quite happy with it. the 100Hz was the deciding factor but there's 1 small thing about it that irritates me.
The tv has a function called "Pixel Precise HD" and its useless. With this feature on you get dot crawl or pixelation and it just makes the content you're viewing unrealistic. At least you can turn it off. But thats not the problem with it. The irritating thing is everytime you turn on the tv this feature comes on again. Although it is off in the menu. You would have to go to your picture settings and reselect your personal settings for it to go away. I'm not sure if its a fault with the tv but although its just a matter of pressing 2 buttons for it to go away its still irritaiting.
Apart from that I really like it, and all my friends say, WOW,Philips is a good make. lol.
...and btw, sport looks very good compared to other LCD's but there is a slight lag when playing PS2 games but the kids don't notice it.
kewl, thanks for the reply.. i am looking for a 100hz tv.. and this one seemed the best value so far.. trying to get reviews on the Lg 100hz one thats sells for around 13k... but they seem hard to come by..
Depending on your viewing distance , usage , lighting conditions I'd go for a plasma rather.
Game has the 50" LG (PQ30) for R12499 , I also was in the same boat , went "cheap" LCD (Sinotec 47") ended up buying the plasma and to be honest I couldn't be happier. In fact certain stores sell the PQ60 (the frameless one) for the same price , essentially the same panel just the looks that differs. I preferred the frame as it had less glare , but hey that's just me ;P
I know Hifi had the Sammy 50" for R12999 , but when I heard of the "buzzing" issue as well as it being an older gen plasma panel I opted for the LG.
lol.. dont worry.. i have been looking for the last 6 months already.... maybe i must just take the plunge and get a plasma... The panasonics at audiovision are also pretty kewl... little bit more expensive, but nice.. ;-)
I bought the 42pfl7403 a couple weeks ago, the one without ambilight. I adore the set, have used it for everything from SABC2 to HD PVR to PS3 and streaming. My set remembers my settings as long as the actual power cord isn't pulled out or a power failure occurs. I would recommend the set to you in a heartbeat. Just turn 'HD Motion' off - causes ghosting in any high motion content especially gaming.
I chose a bigger size with a lower frequency. We dont get over 720p any way with dstv, so the 100hz didnt phase me. I got a 47" Philips (was a replacement for my sansui 42" that they could not fix) It is way better quality than the Sansui. Very happy with mine!
I got the 47" Full HD for R13999 over December, and must say I am pretty happy. Haven't even managed to get around to using the full HD part yet, just been using it for DSTV, without a HD decoder.
still have not got a new tv yet, busy moving house at the moment, so will decide once i have moved everything... keen on a philips/panasonic though, seems just as good quality as samsung/sony for cheaper..
