Philips Airfryer - anyone have?

yet another stupid question: can you put that into 'manual' mode, iow set the temp/timers manually or do you have to select the presets?

do these things have wifi with an app? would be nice to set different temps for different times based on a 'recipe' whilst fartarsing on the couch

Yes, you can do manual settings.

Not sure about the app. The Xiaomi is WIFI enabled.

But why? I have a big pressure cooker that I bought for 1/4 of that price 15 years ago. Still looks brand new.
I actually made 3kg oxtail in it on Sunday, 1 hour and meat was falling of the bones.
In 5 years when this plastic thing is no more and you will be buying your next gimmick, my old style pressure cooker will still be 100%
I am afraid I have some bad news for you:crying:

However, starchy foods may form acrylamide, a harmful chemical, when pressure cooked. Consumption of this chemical on a regular basis may lead to health issues like cancer, infertility, and neurological disorders. Plus, most pressure cookers are made of aluminum that may leach into your food when the cooker is overheated. Exposure to high levels of aluminum has been linked to neurotoxicity (damage to the brain or peripheral nervous system).

Because pressure cooking is an enclosed form of cooking, there is no contact with air. Therefore, some nutritionists argue that the ingredients may remain uncooked from within which can hamper your digestion on being consumed.

Almost all cooking methods, including pressure cooking, have their own pros and cons. For healthy eating, it is important to strike a balance between various cooking methods.

So anyone going to try it out?
I have 4 real pressure cookers of various sizes at home. WTH is this abomination ?

Everything has downsides however, I very much doubt that pressure cooking lentils/beans etc in stainless steel cooker has any reported issues. We got one aluminium cooker but that is never really used now - only steel ones are used.
Everything in life, there will be some link to why its bad for you. But hey the heart foundation still promotes margarine.
All the plastic, paint and non-stick coatings on the air fryers are say I guess.

Such laziness. You go on the weight of the evidence, if you do that not all cooking methods are equally bad. A weak association with disease vs obvious causal relation?

Stop braaing your meat in the plastic bag fool!

LOl only one fool here. I explained the theory/science. Can't even remember if I ever braaied meat in the plastic. Still wont make a difference. Plastic layer on inside that touch the meat and sauce, does not even reach melting point.
Same with that ridiculous Aluminium argument. If you read something and it starts with "it may cause" then you know its your typical FB science.
If Alu was such a threat, why would Alu pots and pans still be made and sold everywhere?

It doesn’t need to melt, only release toxins… facepalm

Does this thing have a delay timer? I.e. can I put stuff in the basket and set it to start cooking in a couple of hours?
