You still don't get it.
There is no such thing as an air fryer. Its just a marketing scam. Its still just a convection OVEN.
You have a mini oven.
You can only bake and roast in an oven.
You cannot fry in an oven.

So you add oil and it does exactly what the dictionary definition says. And unlike an oven it’s lot laying around in a layer of oil due to the draining nature of the basket.

Unlike the convection oven that oil is also moved around in a mist all over the food, so it’s quite literally frying it in oil using air.

Does it work as well as deep frying? Certainly not, but then one would argue the air fry is better for not being as oil rich in the first place. It also doesn’t need a couple of litres of oil to achieve good results.

Vetkoek for instance is probably not going to work in an air fryer. Battered fish or croquettes on the other hand come out far nicer for it than throwing in a pot or pan.

Also, it’s pretty good at destroying stuff too if that’s what you were looking for.

You are correct though, you can only roast or bake in an oven. Frying is a special trick of the Airfryer.

Do you just make stuff up? Any oven have grills that you can just put stuff on, what more draining do you need? Your oven pan that comes with your oven also have a grill inside so the food does not have to touch the pan?
What do you want to drain, the oil? kind of defies the object of frying?

So you saying your air fryer is a convection oven?
Go look at the starfish diagram your one friend here like to post. Please tell me what will happen if there is oil in the air that touches the hot element, you will smoke up your house.

You cannot fry in an oven. Your definition say, cook IN hot oil or fat

I'm somewhat of a curious creature at times - what is it you are trying to achieve in this thread?
Nothing, discussing air fryer. I'll say I am on topic. Unlike every thread on MBB where the air fryer brigade come and derail threads with their air fryer talks.

It’s a convection oven with additional benefits.

Nobody disputed that.

Oil gets in there all the time and it does smoke with certain fats (bacon etc).
