I had a 42" full HD Sansui from HiFi Corp (Sansui is almost the only brand with a guarantee longer than 1 year). Well it went faulty after 18 months. The agents picked it up and returned it after a week. Could not be fixed. Had to wait for the paperwork from the factory to go to HiFi Corp so I could get an exchange. Well, they credited me the R14999 and I went looking round the shop for a new TV. Finally I chose the Philips 47" was on special, had to chuck in a few extra bucks! Put it up at home .... HOLY MOLY what a difference in clarity and sharpness in comparrison the the Sansui ... me - I'm :D +:D + 1000

Those Phillips LCDs that HiFi Corp sells are just beautiful. If I had the money, a Phillips LCD would be my first option.

You must be glad they gave you 15k for a tv thats selling now for around 8-9k.

They had to give me a full refund!!! Thats what the Sansui cost when I bought it almost 2 years ago!

hmmm this thread just makes me think Sinotech 5 year (thats 60 months ) guarantee is too lekker :P but im glad for you man....enjoy that beast

I have one... cannot recommend them strongly enough.

Our old tube telly at home when we were growing up was a Phillips too - it was large for its time and just kept chugging along. After about 15 years it was eventually replaced by a flat panel in the holiday house. If my LCD lasts half as long as that I'll be a very satisfied customer.

If you read the UK AV review sites, the Philips LCD TV's perform admirably in terms of SD and HD signal processing! Their 2009 sets, when they get here, are petty much class-leading with the Samsung B650,750 series as well as the Sony w5500 series of panels.refer to Trustedreviews.com for some reviews.
However, if you dig deeper, the Philips input lag for gaming unfortunately come up short!
If you are a gamer, LCD TV's with IPS panels provide excellent input lag - usually the Panasonic, Toshiba and some Sharp screens have these panels.
Sony comes up 2nd for input lag on their W, X and Z series,as long as you are using game mode.
Samsung panels ErQUIRE you to use game mode to reduce input lag.
Same with Philips.
Otherwise, all the processing that's going on to get you those lovely pictures on your P3, Xbox360, will cause the the input lag to seriously disrupt your Guitar Hero sessions...
