Phone for 17 year old

Thanks, at last someone who's serious about the matter :p Thanks for your comments. I read in the other thread that you purchased one. Still happy with it?

very, there are a few of us with this phone and i think we all are happy with it.

So it's good for listening to music, Mxit, playing games, smsing and general phone use like Calling (of course) and setting an alarm, etc?

We are getting a phone for my daughter's 17th birthday. She always just got hand-me-downs. Which phone would she like. We're considering the following ones. We're die-hard Nokia fans, but came across one I think she'll really like, but don't know anything about LG phones...
1. Nokia 5000
2. Nokia 3500 Classic
3. Nokia 7210 Supernova
4. LG KS360 Chatterbox

If anyone can give me info/pros/cons on these phones I would greatly appreciate it.
A phone is a personal thing. She will use it for years, potentially, so it's important for her to have one she likes. The solution is to ask her. At that age, she probably has a good idea of what she wants and may resent a bad choice.

Does the KS360 come with a 1GB memory card? I'll be getting it on the Vodacom Family TopUp 135 for her.

I bought mine cash at Game. (Vodacom-branded phone). The memory card was not supplied, had to buy it separate.

Best to do is to ask if the memory card is included or not. :)

And I was amazed at the size of the memory card, it's so small...

You can use the phone without a memory card, but you will be severely constrained by the 16Mb of memory, and that will deduct from the overall experience.

mine came with a memory card, i thought they came with a card, maybe you should check on that Mr Libs.

I recommend the 6500 classic or the Sony Ericsson C902 Bond ed.

Will check, although I'm sure the mem card wasn't included.

Interesting to note that the cellphones of today have more computing power (and memory) than a 1980's home computer...

I have ordered the KS360 and am hoping to pick it up later today.

To those of you that wondered, it's a suprise for her birthday, so I don't want to ask her, but did sneak in a Vodacom pamphlet the other day and chatted about how cool phones are etc. and she wasn't interested in any of the Nokia phones and said the LG KS360 is soooo cool (and also some or another Sony Ericson that I can't get for "free").

She's a happy go lucky child and I think she'll appreciate whatever she gets in any case.

Do tell what she did when she opened the package :D

Uhm... I am the wife :p I'm actually the step mom!

// Removes foot from mouth

Oooo things like that should be stated :p

And I am sure she will love the KS360 as it is the more "teen" phone of those to choose from.

Now just make sure she puts her sig on the contract that states she will start dating only after her 25th birthday :D
