im 95% positive that the method i provided on the linked page i sent via PM would work for you.
Remember to always backup,and having lots of backups are always a good thing.

The apps partition increase modifies the EBR file,this can be done from recovery mode without a PC.
The other method you are talking about is the actual phone storage,which is easily changed by modifying the vold.fstab file on jellybean
