Phone GPS erratic, what can I do?

I have a five month old Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. I need GPS on a daily basis and for about the last week or so, the phone has been jumping and losing it's bearings. I have tried re-starting the phone and resetting the Google Maps settings several times and this has not worked.

Restarting it usually makes it get its bearings back for a few minutes before the issue only resurfaces.

I have yet to try factory resetting the phone as it will involve admin but will probably try that if nothing else works.

suck it up and be a man .my xiaomi note 11 pro is about on average 100 km out .its cheap chinese junk .

Do you have the same issues on GPS? Apart from this, the phone works okay which makes me think it's probably a software issue.

yes i got very happy after i removed the bloatware via command prompt .i thought it would help solve the gps problem as well .it didnt .the hardware seems ok .i agree its all software ,i dont really use gps much as with driving i use garmin but location co ordinates are very wonky lately.i cant do any shopping online where it asks for gps area for local shop its allways dozens of km away .at the moment it says im in randburg im very far south of that .no other phone ive had has done this .but at least all the daily miui 13 updates are gone now .like corousel and pics of the day .all suggested content is also gone now
 
Is the issue with Google Maps or with the GPS receiver? Have you tried other GPS apps to see if the same problem occurs?

I had a similar issue once and it turned out to be the receiver as all apps were off by roughly the same distance.
 
just checked my location again .it says Norwood .im around 100 km due south .i wonder if it doesnt take ip and google for a location and not just gps .
 
I suspect those that spend most of their time under bridges will experience glitchy GPS signals.
 
OP do yiu use the GPS on its own or with mobile data at same time?

Ding Ding. The keyword here is "mostly". The issues is when you are driving you need a mobile data and GPS as the mobile data helps you triangulate. If not the GPS shows its last position which is usually outdated if you are driving.

Maselpoort has become the Wish version of Robben Island. Affordable for everyone to drive to but all the budget tourists wanting to see the whites only pool get lost driving there due to mobile data signal consistency causing their GPS to take a long time to update.

im going to try mine again today out of town on a plot and see what happens .i can move around easy there.
 
Just double check that the GPS permissions for waze is set to "allow all the time" and not "allow when using the app".

Also check that it uses precision location and not approximate.
