I desperately need a new phone, I currently have the Samsung A32 but it's been bad lately.

My budget is low because im unemployed but i earn online which isnt much, looking for something under R2500. I'm not expecting amazing but something that is also good. Decent camera, and good storage is a must.

[No huawei]

Coming in at just under R2,500, this is also a great bargain - especially as it comes with a free 10,000mAh Redmi powerbank as well...

Thanks for the replies so far, was looking at the Redmi 14c but many reviews say it's very slow.

I already have a slow phone so don't want to experience it again but definitely on the list

I'm using a Redmi 13C and it works just fine. So the Redmi's mentioned above should be fine. Keeping in mind it's a budget phone so don't expect it to play games well. But running apps, browsing, Youtube etc. I've had no issues. Had the phone about a year now

Thanks! Yeah no need for gaming, just apps and stuff.

i don't mean to sound brutal but you honestly have to adjust your thought process as well as preferences here - you had an A32 and the natural progression of that phone is an A36 which now officially costs around R6999 for the 128GB model

https://www.samsung.com/za/smartphones/galaxy-a/galaxy-a36-5g/buy/

and that will be marginally faster than what you had (maybe a lot faster initially but it will settle down to eventually to actually feeling slow) and in your next breath you say you don't want something slow ..... BUT the sad truth of the matter is that you can't expect Snadragon 8 elite levels of performance until you pay that price - so IMHO for anything up to the R4000 (maybe even higher) region you can expect most phones to be super slow and sluggish

i expect that your best bet is to look for a buddy who isn't hell bent on making a profit from you who will sell you his older phone for practically free (ie your E2k budget) but you are not going to get what you expect from that budget in a brand new phone - so rather concentrate on pre-owned ..... as an example you could probably find something like a Poco F1 which probably still has a better processor than most of those R2k models at around that price if you can live with the version of android that the support for that phone stopped at and by rights it should be selling at around that R2k level pre-owned and used for for 6 to 7 years

you are not going to get much better than the Xiaomi 14C and samsung A05/A06 for R2000 or even stretching that budget a little to actually afford those new

Appreciate the detailed reply and yes that's true, I cant expect the absolute best with my budget but I do believe that the options shared here are actually good ones so I'll definitely be considering them.

wow a civilised exchange of differing opinions on the forum, bravo guys

no reason not to be civil - we are just talking about phones after all ..... BUT he will eventually find that all the phones in his proposed budget are "birds of a feather" ie all super basic and super slow and he can't deny he wasn't warned ..... nothing much more left to be said on the topic

check post #1 to post #84 on this forum thread to see what i'm talking about - if some people find an R4k phone slow what hope can one have for an R2k phone to be much faster or better

https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/thr...his-is-what-i-got-samsung-galaxy-a25.1312623/

though there is no reason why he is not welcome to look for such a unit ..... especially not because some random stranger (ie myself) on the internet says he won't be able to find it 😉

I mean he could just go look at Red Viking's experience with the A25

Have a look on Takelot as you can use a filter for your price pint. You can then go onto GSMarena.com and check specs there. You can compare phones side by side.

Shore up an extra R500 and you can get yourself an old iPhone.
