Phone Stolen

How accurate is GSM tracing though? Surely only accurate to a few blocks or so?
 
Pooky PM me, there are ways mate. It costs a bit of money but it bypasses the stupid SAPS and Vodacom crap. I am not guaranteeing it but it is worth the effort. The SP's dont care about it as they will get more revenue from stolen phones using "pay as you go's"
 
Firstly, how the hell did you forget the phone... surely the only reason for carrying it around with you in the gym is to listen to music on it, so it should have been attached to your ears. If you weren't then just leave it in your locker.

I just recently loaded Phone Guardian onto my symbian phone. If the phone is stolen you can send secret commands to the phone via sms to lock it, check it's GPS position, get contact details, check phone log etc....

Does it work even if the phone is switched off?

I didn't want to leave it in the locker as I didn't have a lock with me, and I forgot my earphones at home (I'm VERY forgetful), and while running it bounces around in my pocket, so I put it in the little compartment underneath the screen on the treadmill and forgot it there...
 
Should have got an iPhone armband holder, made specifically for sports/jogging etc.

COMMANDS FOR REMOTE CONTROL
The Platinum edition, in case of loss / theft, allows to do some actions on the phone even if you don’t own it, using the commands for remote control.
To command your phone you have to send sms to new sim inserted in your phone (you receive it in the notification sms). The sms containing the commands for remote control can be sent from any phone.

The body of the SMS is different for each command that the user wants to run on the phone, however all of them begin with the secret code follows by name of command and finally the parameters.

I do not doubt for a second that there are ways of overcoming this... but if a new sim is put in the phone before doing this the application sends an sms to your chosen number with the new cell number, IMEI, IMSI numbers and the cell ID.

There is a similar application that you should've loaded onto your iPhone:

iLocalis is an app that you can install onto your jailbroken iPhone and using its GPS / location services, it will tell you where the device is. If you have a 3g device with GPS, it will be pinpoint accurate. If you ever lose the device you can log into iLocalis web site and track the location of the device.

My Virgin Active gym has camera's all over the cardio area and weight section...

It's worth going to speak to the manager, if they have camera's installed.

Does the iPhone one have to be running? I ask as someone stated the person has to actually start the app. This symbian one doesn't need to be on.

I also just tested it by sending an sms from another phone *12345*localize* and after about 1 minute it sent me a link to google maps showing me the current position of my phone... if it doesn't get the co-ordinates straight away (if the phone is indoors etc) it'll keep trying until it does. You can also get the app to track the phone and send you the new co-ordinates at intervals chose by you.

If you suspect the phone is in your vicinity you can send another command which plays a loud (never mind the phone volume) alarm for a preset length of time....
