Phone Stolen

If he survives up to that point i'm sure the nigerians will give him the respect he deserves.

Well my thought was that you would have reported your phone stolen so then mention to the police that you have this application and request that they join you in retrieving it...

Now I know you will immediately say that this will not be fruitful as they will not waste manpower but then I am also lucky enough to have a dog unit policeman as a friend and another friend who runs a vehicle tracking company so I would be able to get assistance.

Even if you could not get the phone you can still use the commands to delete personal information like videos, pictures, sms etc etc.

Now there seems to be a few attempts to knock this software but I'd rather have this option if my phone went missing rather than sitting like Pooky wondering what to do. At least I have something else to try....

Lol.. Well you should be greatful that you have friends like that :)

What is the name of this application btw? Will load it up onto my N95...
 
A relative of mine had her phone stolen to day at work. I told her not to leave it at that!

My branch of Virgin also has cameras but only in the change rooms:p

Ha ha I have to admit enjoying finding what is out there for Symbian phones... :) Plenty forums available to keep me busy...

I am actually finding that if you can think of something you would like your S60V3 device to do, a search will probably show that it exists out there somewhere.

Not by apple but independent developers making a quick buck using the appstore, limnos pointed out an app available in the unofficial jailbroken repos.
 
iLocalis for the iPhone runs a deamon app in the background, checking your location and sending it to the iLocalis server every 15 minutes. It's actually an amazing piece of software. From the iLocalis website, after I log in, I can view EXACTLY where my iPhone 3G is. Make remote calls/sms etc.. and view how much battery life is remaining on the phone... Not too sure how well it will work with the 2G iPhone as it doesn't have GPS.

Yeah, seen that for Symbian but the problem with that is that it sends data on an ongoing basis... not too much of a cost i suppose but i still wouldn't feel comfortable knowing my phone is connecting behind my back on an ongoing basis... don't want to be surprised by a large phone bill.

I thought the exact same thing. That's why I removed the software. It sends information (i don't know how much date it sends) every minimum 15 minutes and maximum 30 minutes. So I didn't feel like getting surprised at the end of the month..

Besides, i'm not so forgetful as Pooky :) My phone is always in my hand, and when at the gym i I leave it in my car.
 
Firstly do you have insurance on your phone?
If you do, go try claim, and try get your new phone. If you get your new phone, great. Then leave the rest up to the police/vodacom etc, no need to go vigilante looking for the culprit, it might get you into more trouble.

If you cannot claim or don't have insurance then try with the cops/marine1 to recover it.

I think the cops dont hassle to much, cause they know the smart guys who deal in stolen cellphones know how to have the phones unblocked or change the IMEI number anyways.

Good luck though. Having had my phone stolen a while back too, i honestly dont think you will get it back.:(
