Okay so ive been eligible for upgrade since February 2008 on my TopUp 135 contract but i have not upgraded because all the phones available are crap.

So ive been holding out to get the SonyEricsson K810i and ive been watching the pay-in price regurlary on the Vodacom4me website. on the 26th of August i checked and the pay-in price was R899.00.

i checked the vodacom4me website yesterday and i see it has been taken off the list and the nearest phone to it now is the SonyEricsson C702 with a pay-in of R1499.00

so i emailed three Vodashops in the durban area (Musgrave, Pavillion and Gateway) and Vodashop Gateway was the only one who bothered to get back to me about what happened to the SE K810i, anyway this gentleman said that the phone had been discontinued but there was still stock available and the pay-in would be R1150.00 Excl. upgrade fee.

Now i ask you why is there such a great difference in price between what the V4me wesbite says and what Vodashop says? I even phoned 0821959 and they gave the same price Vodashop Gateway did.

So why is there a different price listed on Vodacom4me? Why is it still so expensive if the phone has been discontinued?

Your comments would be appreciated v3g
i would really like to upgrade my phone like really soon!

So ive been holding out to get the SonyEricsson K810i..SonyEricsson C702..

"upgrading" to phones as old as those would be more like a "downgrade" dont you think?

besides if it breaks they probably wont be able to find parts to fix it.. same reason i decided not to get a SE w900 a while ago..

Makes sense to me.... when you originally saw the phone it was probably a special offer. Now that this is no longer available the price reverts back to the usual price.

I got my Samsung D900 with Vodacom on a Weekend everyday plus for R69 per month!! Try and find it now, two years later, for a similar price!

I've become disillusioned with Vodacom of recent. The phones available and the pricing is ludicrous. MTN, on the other hand, are soooooooo organised and simple. I enquired about a contract directly to MTNSP and they sent me the ENTIRE contract list with basically every phone you can think of - even one's that are making the cellphone blogging community go gaga because they don't know when it will be available yet bam, there it is on the pricelist! Port dude .. screw Vodacom!

Oh FYI
MTN AnyTime 100 - FREE K810i with SUBSIDISED price of R89 ... go figure!

just FYI, when I holded out on getting a phone upgrade for 5 months, MTN actually gave me a discount on the pay-in for my new phone. like R400 or something, for 5 or so months. about 2 years ago.

Okay you guys are missing the point.

1: i am a STUDENT i.e. im poorer than a church mouse i cannot afford to pay high prices to upgrade.

2: I am on Family TopUp 135 i cannot switch change or delete my contract. i have to work with what i got.

3: I want a decent sony ericsson phone i can AFFORD. i dont care if its a bit old.

V3G im still waiting for your comments on the issue? i'll be making more noise next week!

have a good weekend folks.

Where they advertising new contracts or upgrades? The lot of the upgrading user is a sad one. It seems our perpetual money is not appreciated. But then again we make things worse for ourselves by not showing them our money could actually leave.

I would have actually ported from MTN to VC if VC offered a great package for the HTC Touch Diamond as compared to the one MTN showed me for a AnyTime350.

Hellllooooooooo! V3G??????? are you on holiday or something? your comments please!!!!

PM v3g with the link to this thread - clearly the post hasn't caught his attention yet otherwise I am sure he would have responded...

Or he's got no clue on what to say ;)

As I've said before, and in my sig as well, I'm not at all up to speed with phones, pricing, contract, upgrades, etc.

It's a function more related to the retail channel and not really the data network side of things where I hang out.
