More seriously, except when one is bokeh-whoring, you can take most of these photos just fine with a compact camera that has a halfway decent lens on it and allows for taking photos in a raw format so you have the most processing leeway. If you absolutely have to take them in jpeg you're more likely to become limited to taking photos of things you can prepare for beforehand to essentially 'force' the camera to bend to your will, getting what you want rather than what the camera wanted.
Also, Polo786 your images aren't showing at all and are inaccessible for me via the links from quoting your posts.
*edit*As a quick addition to the point above, this was taken using an at-the-time cheapest you could get compact camera. Having a R100k combination of camera+lens would not have made the photo come out any better (aside from being sharper and a higher resolution) if I had taken it as a jpeg, as I had to do with that compact.

Aaaand now I feel like posting a few of my 2008 Japan trip snapshots.
I know the competition is open to all, but my point was that people already had the same camera that is the competition prize.
I think all entrants with Canon's already should be excluded.. they already have awesome quality pics... Need one of us with normal point and shoot cams to win![]()
To attach your image you need to post it using one of the buttons above the edit field for 'attach image', then use the item that pops up to upload it. Entries for this competition closed yesterday, though.
Canon makes normal point and shoots too... like mine.
In general, most already have awesome camera's. Very few point and shoot entries... just saying![]()
Stop buying expensive cellphones and tablets and you too can afford to buy one.Mine is a Bridge Camera. Oh would I love to have a DSLR with different lenses.
The majority of people entering appear to have point'n'shoots, older bridge cameras or cellphone cameras, actually. In general, most already have awesome camera's. Very few point and shoot entries... just saying![]()
When and where will they announce the lucky devil of a winner?
Good point - I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. I think it's safe to say that images not adhering to the instructions in the original post will not be considered. That moment when someone that has done such a terrific job of not reading a competition's rules whatsoever posts to that competition's thread after it's already closed.
