I know PHP5 is more geared towards OO than 4, but I can't use 5 due to the host.

Anyone got any decent database classes or examples for 4?

What are you looking for, portability, ease of use, or performance? I you want portability then something like PEAR DB will be good and for performance its best to do your own since the existing libraries will all have way too many features and be slower than something custom written for speed. I would recommend doing your own class cos then you end up with exactly what you want.

Hi Fergus,

hear what you saying. I've recently been looking at some nice ways of doing database classes in PHP5 (ways I liked, anyway), and never really used classes in PHP4, just cheap and nasty functions, etc.

What was lacking from 4 compared to 5 was reflection and SimpleXML.

Was just interested if anyone had a preferred method of approaching it.

Thanks thisgeek, hadn't seen it before.
