There is a single phase house connection and the additional physical earth connection is made locally. Installing Type 2 protection inside distribution box located in the house should be simple. Install it on the power wires entering distribution box just after the main switch and a fuse or a circuit breaker:
- one Type 2 (L-N) device between Live and Neutral terminals.
- one Type 2 (N-PE) device between Neutral and local (physical) Earth terminals.
I can be one combo device like Clearline SS40 TT230 (code 12-00417).
As for the Class 1 protection, it is a place in a main distribution box (or if not allowed - in the additional box), 30 meters away from the house. I am confused with TN/TN-S/TT earthing systems and I didn't check properly what kind of connection it is regarding to the grounding standards (N or N + PE), didn't see any markings.
What kind of grounding system we could expect? Location is Bryanston South, close to the Sandton Clinic.
In all Class 1 application diagrams there is a physical ground in the main distribution box and such wire should go to the house together with L-N wires. In our case I am not sure about. How N-PE device should be wired in the case there is no additional PE wire going to the house?
This is not that I would take installation work on myself, I have no legal qualifications, but I don't trust this eletrician so I need to know how it should be done properly. I just found that water pump for the underfloor heating is on the same circuit breaker as computers.
