Surely this conversation is talking about whole retail operations bigger than aHmm, dunno man had a pretty awful soggy chicken wrap for R55 at checkers with off lettuce. Woolies was R59 and way more consistent and fresh.
Big thing for woolies compared to checkers is service levels and consistency.
Go to a woolies in any town and what you will get food quality wise does not differ. Checkers it's a hit and miss.
I disagree. The Checkers stores we buy from are all top experience and compete head on with Woolies. I walked through a C store I hadn't been in before in the West Rand last weekend and it honestly felt better than WW for quality and pricing. C stores are doing a lot of things well and I am sure it shows in their turnover.Checkers basically always R3 cheaper than Woolworths but only 60% of the quality![]()
Well my experience goes on.Surely this conversation is talking about whole retail operations bigger than asinglechicken wrap incident which may not necessarily represent everyone's average shopping experience that is enough to compare Woolies and Checkers.
The big difference between all these stores vs WW is they stock more or less the same thing. WW managed to make their WW "no name" absolutely premium. We moved to WW almost 100% of our shopping a few years back and havent been happier half the food isnt being tossed out anymore.Well my experience goes on.
Off chicken breasts...
Green Rump...
Lettuce and general veg that goes off within a day.
Poor quality water like Milk and cheese from Douglasdale/lancewood etc.
Do yourself a favour and go buy lancewood gouda and woolies gouda and go compare. One is sharp bitter tasting block of plastic.
Checkers does not offer Ayrshire milk. No rbST free options.
Checkers is a "wanna be" when it comes to premium still.
Need I say more. If Checkers was substantially cheaper than Woolies sure it could be accepted.
it's mandatory for PnP and Checkers staff to hate customers and be sour all the time. Ask a person in these stores where an item is and you'll get the kakkest look
Ask someone at woolies, and they stop what they doing, take you to the item, polish your knob and go back to what they were doing
