A relative of mine works for PnP stock control. He told me that every year PnP run the same specials on the same products in the same week of the year. So what you must do is keep the PnP adverts and then plan to buy those same things next year when they are on special. The other supermarkets copy PnP, so their items will also be on special at the same time.

I haven't verified this information, but it is worth investigating..

that's what we do. I check out what's on special where. And then only buy that. It does make a huge savings difference

It isn't just specials, even normal foods will be cheaper or more expensive in some supermarkets.
