Pikitup on strike again?

I'd fire every single one of them!

Enough is enough.

It's an unprotected strike so no union can interfere...score!
They've accepted the previous agreements so they really have NOTHING to complain about
The trucks are doing 90% if the work

There are other people who'd do the job because they have nothing, so give it to them and get rid of these ouks. It's clear they don't wanna work! If they wanted to, they wouldn't be striking. No more freebies!!!

Pikitup workers to continue striking despite dismissal threats

JOHANNESBURG - Striking Pikitup workers affiliated to the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) say they will continue their unprotected strike this morning, despite a threat by management to dismiss those who don't arrive for work today.

Municipal workers are entering their third day of protests, demanding better salaries for those who earn R6,000 a month.

Some employees who have been going to work have been intimidated and fear for their safety.

Samwu's Paul Tlhabang believes Pikitup management is not committed to resolving the strike and bosses are in fact running away from their responsibilities.

"On the issue, whether we are inside or outside, the conditions still remain the same and the economic situation is even worse now."

Rival union Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union's (Imatu) Keith Swanepoel says its members are not part of the unprotected strike and have been intimidated.

Stop the threat ffs.. dismiss the retards and then hand it over to the cops to arrest the lot of them when they throw their toys out the cot.
 
Samwu regional, national offices at loggerheads over Pikitup strike

CAPE TOWN – South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) regional leaders in Johannesburg say Pikitup workers will continue with their unprotected strike, despite their national structures sending out a statement calling for workers to return.

The illegal work stoppage is now in its third day, with management vowing to dismiss all workers who did not report for duty this morning.

Striking workers are demanding better salaries and Pikitup boss Amanda Nair to be fired.

Samwu’s national office says it has engaged its regional leadership, who are leading the strike, and urged the nearly 4,000 workers to go back to work immediately.

OK, so what if the next time there is a strike.....a suburb, say Parktown hires a private company, XYZ to collect their trash and minus the refuse collection fees from their rates to Jhb City Council. Other suburbs can then also follow suite and viola...we get rid of one cancerous arm.
We then find another cancerous arm to apply similar cure...and so on...until we remove the head!
 
City of JHB calls for action after claims of assault by Pikitup workers

JOHANNESBURG – The City of Johannesburg has called on those who have been intimidated by striking Pikitup workers to lay charges with police after it emerged private contractors instructed to clean up the city have now also been attacked.

Waste removal workers affiliated to the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) have been on an unprotected strike since Wednesday, demanding salary increases and that Pikitup boss Amanda Nair be removed.

Rival union, the Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (Imatu) says a female member has been intimidated because she wanted to work and has laid a charge with the police.

The city’s Matshidiso Mfikoe says management is extremely concerned about the level of violence by striking workers.

Throwing rubbish everywhere and intimidating/threatening passersby as they go . WTF are the cops not arresting these fskers ??


I reckon everyone who works or lives in the Joburg CBD should be supplied with a free paintball gun and an endless supply of pepper & solid balls . Time to teach these c0cksuckers a lesson

remove the word "paintball" and replace the "balls" with bullets and you have a solution ...

They just came past our work. Kicked over a few dustbins, threw the litter all over the road, threatened a few of our guards who kept them away from the entrances, and moved on.
Then had one JMPD car slowly following them
 
Unprotected, so fire the lot of them. Then have them arrested for destruction of property. Then have their union fined for failing to keep their members in check...

That was my first thought ... then I thought of all the "counselling" fees that would need to be paid out of my rates money that the council steals every month. "Paintballing" the mutherfskers could provide hours of fun for law abiding residents .... could even count as some kind of stress relief therapy I'm sure
 
Garbage in our area was collected 10:00pm sunday night. A spokesperson said this morning they'd had on truck set alight and another shot at so they're keeping their planned routes secret.

We couldn't dispose of our own refuse because the dump was overflowing.

Yeah, if you or I were to fail to deliver a service, we'd lose our business in no time at all. That and summons to pay back any fees where no service was delivered.

A step further is actually what is called for. Dismiss the [-]services[/-] cesspool that is Pikitup and privatise the whole damn thing! I'd rather deal with a privately run business than another municipal failure.
