Pillars of Eternity

Just over two hours into Act I now... I like it, but being a RPG n00b, I can see how I'm going to struggle if this gets any harder.

It gets harder and then suddenly it gets way too easy. I had to up the difficulty after a while because I only had to click enemies and they died. I'm thinking of maybe dropping a few party members too, just to increase difficulty in fights.

Played it for 20 minutes, its boring and old school... and this is coming from a guy who loved rpgs in the 90's.

And your generation is what's wrong with gaming today. If you have to read a bit, without an explosion every 5 seconds you get bored.

Just go play call of duty.

Old school is hardly a negative. Game is brilliant just requires commitment and attention to get the best from it....Ofc if you are used to the current dumbed down games aimed at the casual market that might be hard...

Old school is the whole point of the game. That was made clear from the start.

He is going to fall in love with Shroud of the Avatar.

Hey guys,

just bought Pillars of Eternity 2 Obsidian version for R409 on steam... Which seems ridiculously cheap when compared to $50 on gog for the standard version.

I don't even know if I'm going to play it, but I bought it. Can't pass up a deal (mistake) like that.

You finished it in less than a week? :wtf:

Finished it in 1 day on regular difficulty. Was too easy; not nearly as challenging as the first one. Routinely beat character 4-5 levels higher than my party without using a single consumable. If you played the first one I would suggest to choose a harder difficulty.

I liked the characters, the setting was cool. It's a weird game to rate because even though it's really not bad, it's forgettable.

:erm:

This seems odd to me. The first game was like 37+ hours (on average) for the main story. Surely this one can't be that much shorter?

Do you intentionally rush through the main story or something?

It's waaaay shorter than the first one. I didn't rush, but wasn't drawn to explore the side quests either. Many of the sidequests I did by accident, especially the bounty ones.

First pillars took me a week and I still struggled my balls off on the last boss fight.

Let's hope phoenix point later this year is better.

Have you tried Divine Divinity II, currently playing that on hard mode and it's pretty brutal. (Well, for me at least). You've really got to use everything in your inventory in every fight and even then I need try a few times every battle.

Ruined divinity for myself. Played the early access and figured out what was strong. Played through the first chapter with a solo character. When the full game came out it was a cakewalk :/
