Pimping a PC

Thanks guys for your help. Some much to choose from...it's like a box of chocolates. :)

Just make sure his got a big enough psu before going out and buying him something like a 98gtx or gtx260. It will be pretty sad getting a 98gtx or a gtx260 for your b-day and you can't even use it.

Damn... Wish I had parents like you to upgrade my pc.. I'm in dire need of an upgrade :(

Where do I check the PCU?

It's the power supply. Just open up the PC and have a look on the power supply it should have a WATT value on it. Make sure that your power supply meets the requirements set by your graphics card manufacturer or you might run into trouble.

Um...I'm an old lady :D

I haven't paid for his entire PC. He's saved a lot of his pocket money and bought the extra RAM and paid towards the PC. He is currently saving for a new graphics card so I thought I'd get it for him. He's a good kid. If he was a typical horrible teenager there's no way he'd be getting such a nice pressie.

I know enough about the software side it's just I'm not too interested in the hardware. Same like my car...I know how to drive I just wouldn't know how to find the spark plug. :D

Just because parents buy children pc's is not reason to moan like you okes are doing, geez some serious childhood unloved by mommy and daddy problems in this thread :p

Good on you gazer, treat your kids well if you can afford to.

Thanks. Every parent wants to give their kids what they didn't have. As long as I can afford it I'll help my kid.

I also see it as it giving me peace of mind. With him having a cool PC I have his friends here and my son isn't wandering the streets. I know where he is and don't have to worry about what's happening to him.
