I see more and more of my friends internationally pushing me to install Ping chat. Apparently its like BBM for iPhone/Android/Blackberry. and they keep on saying its better than WhatsApp?

Is anyone here using it and seeing that I dont have and never will use a BB can someone give me an honest opinion if its almost like BBM.

For those that dont know its webpage is http://www.touch.com/

And no this is not Spam, I would really get a BB users opinion.

Well, I need to add somebody else to know what it's like to chat... so get it, then PM me and add me... lol

Then I can give my opinion.. :)

If anyone can make groups like bbm then they have a winner.

Actually dont worry to much about it, will visit a friend tomorrow that has a BB so will check with him, they not hard to find in SA.

Thanx Anyway.

Hmm regardless of what many say, in South Africa, Symbian^3 still plays a role. Whatsapp in my opinion is better because it runs on iOS, android, BBOS 3D and Symbian. The more OS's the greater your contact list, and the more useful the app becomes

^This

I can not really comment if its better or worse seeing that I dont use the other services but can only repeat what my friend said: "Its as if BBM & Google+ had a baby but dont allow it to play with the poor* kids down the road."

It is a great app for communicating/sharing your life and seeing that some of my friends use it I may as well leave it on my phone for now.

*He said something else but I think I will use my artistic license as some might take offense to the words he used, and no had nothing to do with SA politics.

Having used both Pingchat and Whatsapp
I found Whatsapp to be a more reliable means of communication and more common amongst my friends -- my 2 cents

/Edit no comment on BBM as it's platform specific, hence not a real method of comms imo.

I think if bbm had to be multi platform they would be the most popular but then again blackberry itself would be loosing on customers as im sure more people would choose alternate phones to communicate with. Then again they could always charge for the software on non bb phones?

That would be my plan if I was the CEO.

You always have other services that you could use to pull people like BES/BIS. Its only a matter of time before people move to other services completely. Tap into the market while you still can, once they replaced its gone and you can never get them back.

I don't think the new CEO is going to do anything like this being "bred" on the same Mike and Jim juice -- you only have to listen to his interviews to hear that they still pull the strings.

Guys give Viber a go, its available for Android, iOS and soon BB. No usernames :)

Viber is great esp seeing that we have one of the Official staff hanging around on our forums. I use the VoIP every day, the only problem is that Viber also suffer the same fate as other text messengers in that its limited in what devices are supported.

I have Viber installed also along with WhatsApp...but hardly any of my contacts have Viber. Then again....most of my contacts have Blackberry....and Viber dont support BB yet.

90% of my contacts are using whatsapp, so thats what I use mostly. I mainly use Viber for the VOIP aspect and call my family in the UK. Quite impressed with the voice quality.
