I'm getting a 2ms ping to grok.com. How is this possible? Does that mean they have a proxy server in South Africa?

They are using CloudFlare, which has PoPs in SA...

I might be a tad out of date lol. The last time I worked with network tech was in 2012, before my bike accident. Only getting into development now again. Had some brain damage to sort out first.

When X had a pretty large outage a couple months ago (if memory serves me right) they moved providers to Cloudflare and Cloudflare have local presence son our stuff is served mainly locally.
