Pirated Android apps website domains seized

Wow, didnt even know about these. With so many free apps, i didnt think there was the need to pirate apps.

A friend mentioned applanet to me the other day, specifically because "some apps that are normally paid apps are free on this site"
My immediate concern was about piracy so I avoided applanet.

I'm still amazed at how some people will still try to pirate when prices are as low as R8, even for new apps.

Why would someone not want to pay for apps that are so cheap?

Agree.

There has always been a case for piracy while software, music and movies were so expensive. But at R8 on average for most paid apps (and plenty for free), i cant see how this argument hold true any longer.

Exactly! Android apps are so freaking cheap, you really have to be a dimwit to go to all the hassle of rooting your phone and loading dodgy pirated apps.

+1
Dodgy includes the concept of viruses...

As long as Aptoide is still up, noone is even going to notice a couple of domains falling over. Aptoide refreshes it's (pirated) store listings just about daily, and gives anyone the ability to start up their own repo at any time. It can't be stopped, but the authorities will still happily blow millions campaigning to do just that. Precisely like the global illegal drugs trade. Sure it's harmful in all sorts of ways, but as long as people want the product (drugs, free apps, whatever) no amount of legislation is going to wipe it out, not with all the human rights watchdogs we have today.

The other benefit of paying for Apps through the Google App store is that when I buy a new device they are all there already lined up for me to download.

I don't have to go find the latest pirated versions and re-install them... my paid for apps are all there already in my Google Account.

No need to root, Most of my apps are paid but a few that are R100 plus are pirated, but that's literally 2 or 3 apps

Pretty much. Also, check out marketmilitia.org.

When you backup with Titanium Backup, you don't need to download all those apps again. It restores it for you.
