Pistorius 'forgets' iPhone’s pin

Does South Africa have any legal protection against self incrimination like the States does?

Whose phone is it? His or hers? If hers, I can believe that he might not have known it. If his, then he is definitely 100% lying.

However.... let me present a devil's advocate view.

Let's assume that he is in fact innocent, but knows that the phone will be used to show that the two were fighting - maybe he even used violent and aggressive language with her. If he is innocent, but they were fighting, then having the prosecutor dig through that fine will add fuel to the fire. If he is guilty, well obviously he doesnt want them to read the messages!
 
My take - They argue over another girl that he is seeing on the side. He says that it is over with the other chick but she doesn't believe him. An argument ensues and she grabs his phone and runs to the bathroom to check messages and phone logs.
He doesn't take kindly to this and in a fit of rage shoots 4 rounds into the toilet door.

Or.....

She goes to the toilet in the wee hours of the morning to "chat" to a "friend" who happens to be male and with whom she had relations with before and he hears this and pops a few shots off through the door. This "friend" has been an issue between them and is a sore point in their relationship.
 
I read that Francois Hougaard as well as one of Pistorius' former girlfriends will testify for the prosecution.

mmmmm, by talk i assume via text etc. When confronted just pretend you on the loo.

I like my conspiracy theory better.

Chat or text makes no difference and remember he heard talking coming from the toilet.
