often at shows we will see cellC tent/stand doing promotions!!

as I was looking for a better priced data and calls, though time to give cell C a try

got a sim card, free from one of the cellC shops, great
went and bought a voucher, should of bought a smaller voucher, so be it!!
wen I uploaded the money, great, go free data and and and , though wow this is great!!

then it all went bad!!
data connection at home, edge only, after having been told that I should have full coverage
at work a very week 3G
so though will just use us the money making phone calls
that is no good either!! breaks up and general bad signal in general, almost every where we go!!

though might be the cell phone, as I was using a older hand set, so inserted a sim card from a different/usual network, and no more reception issues!!

thought that cell C had sorted out their coverage and reception issues
obviously not!!

it does not help cellC has this big advertising campaign about the call rates, if the thing dosent work in the 1st place!!
:mad::sick::(

I get better reception on my my cell c sim than with my MTN sim... With MTN even with full 3G signal I was never going over 1mbps.

Just as a reference:

I'm working here in the hub of midrand corporate : MTN edge vs CellC 14mbps :D

Hi kfxnando, Where are you located? Please PM me more details. I will get the technicians on it. *DM*

That's the thing generally. I have not been able to let myself switch over to Cell C for this reason. Simply too scared of the bad signal etc I will be resigned to afterward.

Cell C has the strongest signal at the moment for my area from all the other cellular service providers and I am using my wifi router to share this signal to all my other devices. Maybe you should reconsider and try to sort out your issue with Cell C because their prices and 3G broadband are really great for people like me who don't want to get crappy ADSL speeds. :p

I don't think anyone is saying they don't want to join CellC, it's just that data reception is a hit and miss when you try to use it. And that CellC are saying nothing is wrong.

I ported my number back to MTN from CellC today. Their prices might be great but their call quality sucks. Dropped calls every second or third call and standing outside an apartment building for 10 minutes because the person who must buzz you in can't hear you on a landline pushed me over the edge.

Absolutely correct, but was just explaining that maybe Cell C could explain what the original poster (OP) can do to improve their broadband connection as the sim card is already RICA'd and all. Guess I am just very fortunate that at the current moment between my Telkom Mobile, Cell C and Vodacom data products the Cell C outperforms all the others in the area where I am staying.

There are people who have good CellC service, I wish I was one of them.

3G and phone calls is just too unpredictable in La Lucia.

I also have the problem where the voice line is very bad at times and when you drive, the line just goes bad or gets dropped. I stay in Cape Town city centre and have good reception and sometimes its just plain bad. I am also considering porting back to Vodacom. No point in spending money to advertise great service, and then you don't have great service...wtf? Comparing Cell C to Vodacom...Vodacom wins loose hands - rather pay the extra few cents per minute and consider it as a premium for excellent service.

I am trying to warn everybody I can against Cell C, because damn theyre a mess.
