I'm yet to meet ANYONE who owns a flagship phone that hasn't bought a protective cover and/or screen protector of some kind. Honestly, if your phone ever ends up looking like that, it's probably best that you steer away from the top of the range stuff and go for a 3310 instead.Quite surprised about this video. WAS planning to get one.

They do. Google are quite simply not a hardware company and it shows year after year, in every single device they make.I have a 6P with screen protector. Dropped the phone a few times and I have separation of 3 out of the 4 antenna bands. I've got no issues with this on the 6P because it's 2 years old but now the antenna is on the side of the Pixel 2 (6P is on the top/bottom) and you know this is just asking for trouble. It honestly seems like the S8/V30 easily surpass the Pixel 2 from a build point of view.

Problem is they don't make 'em... The Pixel 2 is made by HTC and the Pixel 2 XL by LG.They do. Google are quite simply not a hardware company and it shows year after year, in every single device they make.
What Google need to do is allow whatever OEM they ask to build something for them,to better advise them on best practices and materials. Pixel 2 is poorly built and Pixel 2 XL has poor quality displays.
If you read further he mentions the manufacturer making them.Problem is they don't make 'em... The Pixel 2 is made by HTC and the Pixel 2 XL by LG.
I pretty much make it clear in the following paragraph that I know they don't actually make the phones, and that they need to allow the OEMs who make them have more say in what happens.Problem is they don't make 'em... The Pixel 2 is made by HTC and the Pixel 2 XL by LG.
No the Pixel 2 XL screen is made by LG that's why the V30 also has the same crappy screen. Blame LG et al not Google. IMO HTC should've made both phones and Google's HTC deal will make it happen next year. OP should either wait for the Pixel 3, buy and get a cover or go for last year's pixel.I pretty much make it clear in the following paragraph that I know they don't actually make the phones, and that they need to allow the OEMs who make them have more say in what happens.
It's clear that Design and Materials are chosen by Google, they then get an OEM who can make it happen, and they gladly take the money and build the phones, knowing the mistakes being made.
