It nice because you have a private copttage :) Think we paid 22k for five people-2 weeks(excluding food).

Still doesn't sound too bad.
If you had 5 people, for two weeks @ R15k p.p (at the accomodation rates you made mention of) then you could have a good time.

R4400 for accomodation
R7400 with SAA return
R3200 for food and drink?
 
Dude,flat island is a must ! Paid like 200 rupees a head and you take a catamaran(sp) and you get lunch and dop :D
 
Guess I am the only sod to think that Mauritius is like Woodstock *Cpt* with a beach :(

Where do people get the money to go on holiday to faraway countries? If I may pose another question, since we live in tough economic conditions, why don't people save the R10 000 (or whatever the amount is) they were otherwise going to spend on holiday and instead save that amount in a savings account?

Erm they work for it and save and since it is there money they can do with it what they like

Because the stress would kill you. I need a holiday every 4-6 months. If I don't get it, I start to burn out (I lead a very fast paced lifestyle). So that 15-20k or whatever is money well spent in my opinion. It enables me to come back full steam, refreshed and ready to make more money. A lot more than I would get from the bank in some measly 5% account.

PS: Mauritius rocks!
