About to embark on an exterior waterproofing and paint project. JHB, Gauteng.

Plascon has a '60 year' or something bithday celebration month until end-Aug, and I can get the following in standard colours:
  • Micatex for R 995 / 20l (avg spread rate of 5 sqm/l)
  • Wall & All for R 1,570 / 20l (avg spread rate of 12 sqm/l)
The 'salespeople' are leaning to Micatex, so am I, but I've heard equally good things about Wall & All. Ito spread rate and secondary coats, looks that I'll likely end up more or less in the same position cost-wise.

Very conscious of 'result can be only as good as the prep', the contractor will be chopping down all the way to the bricks in many parts and apply SG47% screeds and plaster with mesh where needed, then waterproofing, then paint (lots of curing time between).
Want to ensure that when spending all this money, we finish off with with a reasonable complimentary coating.

I like washable feedback and sheen-texture of Wall & All (Joburg Hadeda's know how to aim for a wall and create a mess...)
I like Micatex's seeming ability to expand slightly and reported extreme weather durability.

Background:
Had great results to date with Prominent's Premium Roof & Paving paint, applied to boundary walls in 2020.
Then decided to roll the dice and do the same for all of the house exterior, however, this had mixed and less impressive results than the boundary walls with cracking, fading etc. I suspect the fact that boundary walls were painted with a standard colour, but house exterior had to be tinted could be the reason.

We tried Micatex about 20+ years ago and imo it was terrible; held the dirt and was a pita to clean easily. Changed to Wall & All about 12 years ago, and no issues. Going to re-paint in the coming months again with the same. Although more expensive, it lasts really well, is easy to clean and maintain.

Thanks. It's the cleaning part that also caught my eye on other posts...

Would you say apart from cleaning, they are equally durable?

Texture and sheen differences?

Wall and all.

Smooth finish, dirt doesn’t stick to it.
Thanks!

120 litres of Wall and All purchased and on standby to go on, after VERY extensive and careful surface prep.

Plascon had an August promotion. Paid R 1,657 incl. VAT per 20l which from what I can see is a decent price.
Pastel tinted from their standard colour set. Trying to keep things simple and scalable for future jobs.
