Not if viewed via a PC or HD PVR with an HDMI connection. Pic will always look crap on a LCD when viewed via RCA/AV or optical inputs. HDMI FTW, then it looks better than anything you'd find.

Tried tennis/golf viewing?
It's R8500 and looks amazing nevertheless. R8500 >>> R25000.

I agree, very good value.
If you don't need superior SD TV/sport ability, which is where plasma takes the cake.

Agreed. But not quite worth investing into SDTV as it is dying very quickly.

Have you done this test yourself PP? (tennis/golf on LCD via HDMI cable from HDPVR)
I'd also like to know what Blixempie is referring to re dying standard.
According to IOL, SA is switching to digital broadcasting in 2012 http://www.iol.co.za/scitech/techno...itch-over-in-2012-1.1012285?showComments=true
but digital broadcasting does not equal HD broadcasting (I think?)

I have, only on 60Hz LCDs though, such as the LA40C530. I'm sure 100+Hz will handle golf/tennis acceptably though. But the point is they cost a lot more.

Yeah SD is decent on more expensive LCD. But then compare to more expensive plasma...

No Digital does not equal HD quality.
As it stands now:
RF Antenna that receives SABC + eTV = Analogue
DStv + TopTV = Digital
So digital does not mean it is HD.

What I refer to is that in the next 2 - 3 years most people willing to buy a plasma or LCD will be watcing HD TV channels if they are going to watch normal TV at all. I assume most forum users already download everything they watch, many of which have multimedia players with HDMI outputs, and that is the way of watching TV now and into the future. Thus, normal broadcasted SDTV, even if they are now going to start broadcasting in DVB-T, is dying. Only those in the demographic who can't afford LCD's will be interested in normal SDTV.
