Plasma TV nightmare

So how is him saying looks like another bad Samsung any different from you constantly going on as if it's the greatest thing since John Crapper found out that a flushing toilet is far superior to chucking it into the street?

He probably works for Samsung ;)

I've been saying that since Jan

My position is that at the entry level of the market, plasma > LCD. Regardless of brands. That's why.

Then if someone asks, I will rather recommend Samsung, on the basis that they are the most popular, and because I've received better service from them than LG (PC LCD's).

I would never say "Don't consider LG at all", or "Don't consider Panasonic at all". That's what you're saying, which is where you're confused.

Get over it.

No your position is Samsung Plasma, it doesn't matter what the OP has asked info on, you recommend Samsung Plasma. Even when there have been a few complaints about them, oh it must be the nature of electronics is your excuse, weird that, I've had issues with Samsung Monitors three in a row, NBS, Dark-Denim and a few others have had issues with their Samsung TV's, the brand Samsung is not as strong as it used to be. If your stand was plasma then you'd not mention a brand and let the OP's go with their own conclusions.

It’s no use Lupus, you can argue with this guy until you are blue, he will still recommend Samsung and tell you the problem is with the repair agents, and/or all of us received the "bad one in the batch", i call it the PP Logic :p

My position is plasma at the entry level of the market. Samsung is my preferred brand because they sell the most and therefore are the best documented on the Internet; as well as based on my experiences with PC LCD's where it is a fact Samsung's are better than LG's - they break less and are subject to better after-sales service/warranty. I have always maintained that with higher budgets, LCD's are good. If you participated more then you would realise that, instead of pointing the same fingers for months now over and over again where I always have to set you straight... Until a month later where you come back pointing those fingers exhibiting digestion problems and regurgitating the same old BS.

1. OP's start threads sometimes without listing their purposes
2. Their purposes could possibly be watching SD TV/sport among other things
3. They have a budget less than that of 100Hz LCD's
4. They will list LCD models and not mention plasma because of their incorrect idea of plasma based on plasma's previous downfalls (burn in, high energy usage, low life span - all of which aren't true these days)

And you tell me that I am wrong in asking them what their purpose is, and after finding out that they want SD TV and sport, I'm wrong to recommend plasma and explain that plasma does not suffer those problems any more? Puhleez.

Plenty OP's have come here doing exactly what I've mentioned in points 1 - 4 and have ended up going plasma. Why? Because at the lower end of the market, plasma beats LCD. I say it, Dolby says it, TYR says it... Need I say more. Had I not mentioned plasma, at the lower end of the market they would have gone for factually worse LCD and received a worse experience than they would with plasma. And you tell me I'm wrong for trying to help them getting the best experience and value for their buck?

Get real and catch a wake up and accept my position once and for all.

If you think 4 forumites who are vocal about their problems says anything about a brand's quality as a whole, then you have a small mind. I keep repeating the analogy of "Using HelloPeter as a determining factor" because way, way more people complain than compliment. This distorts product information, especially if said product sells more than other competitors (like with Samsung vs LG). I will admit their after sales service is poor. Have you tried LG's? Which brand are you comparing to to set the bar? To say things like Samsung is not as strong as they used to be is complete nonsense, what do you base this on? I say they are stronger than ever. Why? Because sales figures speak volumes.

It seems like the quality control on most consumer electronics is pretty bad these days... I think an extended warranty is a good idea!

My opinion in terms of reliability is that Sony seem pretty good (for LCDs) and Panasonic were good for Plasmas. Lately most plasma manufacturers (Samsung, LG and even Panasonic) seem to have lots of customers returning defective sets.

Whats the problem with him recommended Samsung Plasma's anyways?

I'd love to know. These clowns have been at it for months, saying "The Samsung employee", "The defender of Samsung" and other childish BS which I'm still trying to get my head around as to what the problem is exactly.

There seem to be two problems: 1. They hate Samsung getting mentioned more than LG/Sony/etc., and cannot come to terms with Samsung being the most sold TV brand. 2. They refuse to acknowledge that at the entry level to the market, plasma rapes 50Hz LCD. They cannot stand seeing plasma mentioned when the OP's purpose is SD TV/sport and non PC work/static image usage.

Unreal.

Samsung gets mentioned the most because they sell the most, tend to have the latest features like USB media players, and are often cheaper than LG.

PostmanPot your points are valid. My only gripe with Samsung is customer care or post sale service; it's bad.

Must add that I appreciate my Plasma TV a lot more now with a DSTV HD PVR purchased a week ago :D
