Playing BF2 on local network.

If I setup a small network at home will I need to have a BF2 DVD in each of the computers on my network in order to play multilayer or is it possible have all PC's point to one DVD ROM?

You can just use a miniCD loader file and mount it with an image tool i.e. alcohol120% .

I have 2 legit BF2 copies, but I don't use the CD's ...

However - if you have a legit copy of Bf2 for each of the pc's at your lan, there would be no problem to begin with.

You don't need to log into the account server to play, you can even join a single-player game (When you play single-player in BF2, BF2 creates a server, and then connects you to it).

If you want your unlocks then you have to :
- login to the account server.
- AND play on a Ranked server.

Otherwise, download the BF2 server software, run it on a spare computer and ... wham ... everyone can join.

I use DEAMON tools to host my DVD on my PC, my BF2 DVD is never used.
But, you still need all players on the server to have different "CD KEY's".

Very interesting! My two boys love the game and we take turns playing. But as any parent knows they always seem to get the edge over you and I am afraid I don't get nearly as much gametime as they do.

So one might as well get a cd for each pc.

Now the problem. I bought my BF2 ages ago but only recently actually started playing the game. Now I see there are packs which includes "special forces" etc. These are for sale at around R250 each and the expansion packs sell individually for around R150. So in order for me to have the same versions as they would it's going to cost me an extra R200! Not fair!

BF2 + Special forces = R90 at makro.

What we did at a lan was download a game crack for all the guys who didnt have the CD. then we used it on their pc's and setup a dedicated server.

I could explain it in more detail with "links" if you like.

But if you all wana play online then the best option is to get 2 more copies of BF2.

However, there is a world of FREE expansions for this game that you can delve into instead.
Some really good ones are AIX and Project Reality.

This game is very cheap so I would just go and buy more copies if needed.

However you can use a BF2 Keygen to get keys for playing it on a local area network. But I personally would just buy more copies

Changed those too.

Get a keygen and go edit it in the bf2 support folder.

I have a few questions.

1. When I connect to the saix server I get the error:"This punkbuster server requires (A1392 C2.181) Error loading pbcl." Why?

2.Where can I see which version I have, as I installed the 1.41 patch and only got one extra map (Road to Jalalabad) is this right?

I did.

But I had to change my security setup.(type in pb_security 0)

And I could play.

Got hit at the spawnpoint a lot though. P**ed me off!

You got to spawn and run.

Like start pressing W when your spawn time gets to 1 second. Hit the ground running.

Join a squad. That way you can spawn on your squad leader which gives you a more variety. Also dont always spawn on the really busy flags sometimes it will just get you killed over and over. Some times its better to spawn at a different flag to give yourself some distance between you and the enemy.

Been to tired in the evenings to play lately. But thanks for the advice.

If I want to host a lan evening for friends to play BF2, would I need a special server to do this? Has anybody tried this? Lets say for around 5 or 6 pc's.
