Playing Black Ops on Screamer Wimax

Howdy y'all

So I've been playing Black Ops for a bit, but only on CT servers - if I connect to Jhb servers I get pings of >500ms vs. the ~150ms on CT.

Is this due to JINX and open peering? Any way to get a decent ping in Jhb?
 
Oh yeah, if I VPN into my mate in Dbn, I can then play on Jhb servers with a ping of ~200ms...

Is there something like battleping I could use?
 
So far, no, nothing decent to JHB
Ran a tracert to CPT and JHB, and the difference is the Mweb VS Telkom networks.
Mweb obviously 500+
 
200 ping??? OMW is that supposed to be good?? I've got wireless Internet with ping around 27 to 70 depending on the server. :D LOL good luck with the 200.
 
so, now it is even 400+ to cpt. PM'd howzit to check but it looks like it is the connection to the Mweb network......
so, no luck currently

Actually, it was constructive, as I have had Screamer myself and switched to Iburst, which is a bit cheaper and I get way better pings than you do, even when playing on CPT server. Note that I stay in JHB.

You would be better off with 3G!

iburst won't give me uncapped for R375 a month though...? I've been with iburst, and I won't go back.

I hear you, there are other options. But that wasn't really what I was asking in the OP. 150ms is adequate, I was getting 150ms to CT - not to Jhb, and I was wondering if there was a proxy or something I could use.

I checked it out, and no, it is like R500 per month for 5GB's, I currently pay less for 10GB's
I'll make up my mind, just before the month end, the Ibust special which gives you double data also ends in Jan2011

I even got less to CPT, but just after Xmas, it changed. Ran a tracert, and it no longer connects via the telkom network, now only Mweb
I suspect the peeing issue, but Screamer tells me that they do peer....... so I do not know
 
All I am saying is, that I have had Screamer and yes, it may be cheaper, but looking at all the threads, I don't have half the problems that you guys have. and believe it or not, but 150ms for a FPS is high, you are going to get pooned...

As for getting uncapped for R375, what line speed is it and how much are you actually downloading per month?

384kb, I get more than 10gb a month... I'm not looking to change my ISP - I'm happy with what I've got i.t.o. overall value.

Anyhow, as I previously stated, I was playing on CT, and was perfectly content. Jhb was an issue. Now both CT and Jhb are >500ms, and I got lower latencies to international servers. It looks like it has something to do with JINX/CTINX and the peering.
 
even with my 40ms game is such pain to play, people blinking , spiking , dcing agrr make me want to rage lol

points even if you lower your ping you need wait for proper fix enjoy this game.
