Playing open card with insurance

Update the insurance company called, the lady said my cousin must take the car for assessment (not sure about the date). I don't know if maybe the insurance want to cover themselves, for future claims or if they will end up helping her.

Dude, honestly, this entire thread makes no sense.

Your friend has had the car for two years, it is driving fine, so why does it need to be repaired?

And what exactly needs to be repaired? If a R100 000 car needs R35 000 repairs, it is definitely noticeable.

Lastly, you seem to asking for advice despite not knowing many of the details. How can you not know if it was bought from a dealer? How do you not know what repairs are required? And yet you asking members on the forum to estimate how much a dealer will offer even though you haven't shared the make, model, mileage etc?

Okay I know it's confusing but if you don't look, under neath especially the front you will never see the car was in a minor front accident.

She bought it privately very low kilometers, it looks like the previous owner did a backyard panel besting work. Then sold the car this is what is written in the quotation. Hope it will shed some light at what needs to be fixed

1.supply front bumper spoiler
2.Supply
3.supply lower engine cover
4.supply aircon condensor
5. Straighten front
6.Repair front bumper cover
7.Blending
8.wheel alignment
9.3l anti freeze
10.Aircon gas
11. strip and refit parts

Where she took the car for service they just wrote the car, was in accident and need to see a panelbeater ASAP. The panel beater said the car didn't hit a pothole it was in a accident and they didn't fix it properly. It's driveable but unsafe because it will rust and then hell will break loss.

Based on the items above, non look critical and unsafe apart from perhaps number 5. But number 5 could also refer to cosmetic alignment.

Put in anti freeze, have the aircon gas sorted and go for wheel alignment. R2000 and the car should be fine.

And look for a second hand engine cover.
 
Don't think number it's something hectic it's R560 labour.

We will hear what the second panel beater say when companies, reopen on 8th January maybe they were trying to screw her over because she is a lady. Some stuff are still in good conditions like anti Freeze.

My point is, most of the damages sounds cosmetic, so why not leave as is?

Generally when a repairer needs to work on the front of the car they will empty out the coolant and ac gas. Think it something to do with safety. That's why on lots of repairs you will be quoted for ac regas ad a coolant fill

Yeah looks that they want to take out everything and put all new stuff. I swear even today the car is standing under the shade, if you look at it you would never say it was in an accident. Just when you go underneath you see the is some damage.

I don't think if it was for the service we would have ever knew. It's 2013 Kia Picanto
 
Don't know he bought it from some guy here in PE.

I will admit I don't know much about cars but looking at quotation, the aircon condenser is expensive and looking at the one in the car. It's still in good condition and working just that it's not seating in straight.

So can't they reuse it and she can save R10k.

So finally got to check out the car and see what is the big fuss about. The car still in good conditions only when I looked under neath I saw, the damage the front cross member is severely bent.

So the questions can she sell the car like that, will the dealer buy it. Other parts are still in good conditions, the only issue is that front cross member. She called the insurance the lady said she must send the accident report, so she can't claim for those damages later.

She will withdraw the claim. I think the plan is to get different, quotations and take it from there maybe she can get something cheaper. If maybe the dealer is willing to buy a car, like that how much should she ask for it.

You need to make up your mind when making up these stories.

Either this whole thing sounds like a drama about nothing really.

Especially when companies want to replace engine covers as they really don’t do much.

A “cash” quotation will be much cheaper than the inflated for insurance price as well.

Also your nickname is a little ironic if you know nothing about cars.
 
Sorry a typing error it does happen now and then. I think if only important parts are replaced it will cost around, R12000.00 other stuff can be replaced at later stage.

Ain't making anything here my name is a mixer a car company in India, Maruti Suzuki and Denmark band called Michael learns to rock. That is not my real name just created it just for control.

Thought so too we will go to different panel beaters when their reopen on the 8th January. If what I suspect is possible that only cross front member, can be replaced alone and other stuff she will see them at later stage.

I think she will only fix that and keep the car. I think R60k or R50k is reasonable, if she decide to sell the car.

Mileage 75000 with FSH serviced at the dealer.
