Thought I would hold out for a while but unfortunately I've gotten the itch :(

Anyone know of who still has any stock in Jhb? Would like to get it this week. Thanks :)

What are you gonna play? KillZone? :p

That, BF4, NFS, Assassins Creed. Would rather play these on the new console, plus whatever is coming out for X360. Should keep me going until more games are released.

Wouldn't bother getting a ps4 yet to be honest.

I have one, and there really isn't anything fun to play yet.

Assassins Creed is good, but no better than the 360 or PS3 version gamewise - marginal gfx improvements, but nothing worth spending money on. BF4 is absolute garbage. Blacklight Retribution (a freebie on the PS+ store) is fun though.

Wait till some decent games come out.

COD: Ghosts - according to the 12 year old who has played the same game on both consoles - the visuals are a bit sharper and gameplay is a bit smoother - outside of that, no real difference.

"A bit" ?

I don't have Ghosts so maybe it's rubbish but the difference between Battlefield 4 PS3 and PS4 are STAGGERING.

Very very far from "a bit".

Frame rate is also out of this world in comparison.

I'm sorry but anyone saying stay on current gen because the games are exactly the same on the next generation consoles are just lying to themselves for whatever reason.

If you have the money buy the PS4, it's not like it's going to get cheaper in the next two years so you might as well get in early if you have the means.

PC ftw in this case? :p

I'm holding out on buying a PS4 till March for Infamous...The itch only seems to pop up when articles appear online for it or if I'm at Makro and the announcer guy says "We have 1 PS4 left?!" >.<

Must...resist!....Brothers hold!

Um, did you notice that I was conveying the views of a 12 year old. You know, that sub species that plays until their eyeballs fall out, then they rinse them under cold water, pop them back in and play another 12 hours.

He just plays the game, specs don't make a difference to his experience.

Of course the PS4 is fantastic, load times are also far superior.

I'm having to hang on till the multimedia aspects come up to par though.

I still stand by my views. If you already have a 360 or PS3, don't get a PS4 yet, its not worth it.
There is a serious dearth of games (bad or good) at the moment. Wait till some decent games come out that you want to play, then take the plunge.

Speaking of decent games - BF4, unfortunately is not one of them.
I regret purchasing it to be honest, but the Killzone pack was sold out, and I wanted at least one game at the time.

Read an article where some commentators are going so far as to say that BG4 may be the death of the BF franchise

I think the free games are fun. War Thunder I really enjoy.
I haven't played War Frame in only mode. Single player mode does seem very Arcady, but I think you can get used too it. Haven't spend a lot of time on it though.
Resogun is Arcade, but it is addictive.
I can't recall the other free game, but I haven't played it either.
Free to play MMO's like DC Universe can also be downloaded and your PS3 profile will be imported to the PS4, leaving you on the same level as on your PS3 profile.

The PS4 is not a must have at this stage, but rather a "nice to have"
There are some known issues that plague some owners, but they can mostly be sorted without returning the system. These problems will probably addressed and later released version.

Some features, especially on the media side iare lacking atm, but most will be addressed in upcoming firmware updates.
I still love my PS4, but I like the PS4 and it will only get better. The PS4 is very fast and smooth.

If it wasn't for GT6, I would have moved to PS4 for all gaming and media functions

Edit:
Stuck me now that I sound like a PS fan boi, which I'm not, but I did miss the actual topic.
You can check this link.
Couple of guys have sealed PS4 units, or used PS4 consoles for sale.

Edit 2:
Removed Dust514 as a MMO that can be played on the PS4. I was talking rubbish.

Still waiting for fnb to offer it for cheap :/

I want to play drive club/killzone mainly , hopefully will still be free with PS plus when it comes out.

I've been checking the FNB website every so often, but no luck yet. I suppose they'll wait till stock levels stabilize, or there is at least a steady stream of incoming stock.

Yep, agreed. Differences are quite noticeable.

Ps4 does look appealling but I haven't even picked up half of the quality ps3 games that aren't shooters.

Yes sirree....

and as the selective quote below shows, there is much to look forward to.

....if you’re looking at launch games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Assassin’s Creed 4 and aren’t impressed with the next generation, just wait until the drastic visual improvements characterized by first-party exclusives like Forza 5 on the Xbox One and Killzone: Shadow Fall on the PlayStation 4 make it to upcoming next-gen games. There’s no reason to think this won’t happen; indeed, it’s very reasonable to expect games to quickly surpass this visual level in a year or two.

All told, there are precious few next-gen games that offer revolutionary graphics. But if history is any indication, those experiences will come in due time; it often takes years for developers to fully exploit the capabilities that a new console has to offer. We’re just days into this new console cycle, while the venerable Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have had over half a decade to come into their own, making them better values than ever before. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will surely get there too — the best is yet to come.
