PlayStation 5 Pro could launch at the same time as standard model

According to Japanese gaming journalist Zenji Nishikawa, Sony plans to launch its PlayStation 5 Pro console at the same time as the standard PS5 model.

Taking previous PlayStation launches into account, it would be expected that the PlayStation 5 Pro might launch years after the original console, making Nishikawa's claim surprising.

Why not just release one version? The best version? Like we used to get, you got one PS2 that was the same specification.

Well, they are still considering the people that will not be able to afford the Pro at the time and still get the gaming experience on the standard console

But that's the thing, why not just release the standard console? It's getting as bad as the PC master race :-).

True, but remember its a business and making money is the main goal here. We see it in the market everyday. Samsung doing the same with flagship mobile devices and Huawei too.

Well as long as they make their OS scalable who knows. Think this will be the first console since the 6th gen I'll skip. As what's the point now that there are two versions of consoles, games are ridiculously priced, still have massive updates. May as well stick to PC.

SOooo when wil ps4 prices drop drastically?
At this point in their lifespan they should've already, but looking at pricing of both consoles they've just remained the same lever consistently.

I think as PS4 prices have fallen, our exchange rate has gotten worse and worse so it ends up costing more or less the same now as it did on release.

We were R10.15 to the Dollar on 15 November 2013, right after the OG PS4 launch. We are currently sitting at nearly R15 to the Dollar, so all the price cuts probably won't be felt by us here.

Well the PS4 slim was released at 299 dollars in 2016 which was when we were at pretty much the same point as we are now in the exchange rate. The PS4 slim is about 269 dollars now.

The PS4 Slim would cost you a little over R2700 with November 2013's exchange rate

A man can only dream

I’ll probably go for the PS5 Pro this time around, just to make sure I get the very best the platform can offer.
