So decided to play some PS4 during this lockdown.

Trying to download a game from the PS Store, but damn the speeds are terrible. Up, down, then dead. It is not my internet connection as everything else is running smoothly.

Anyone else having issue?
 
Damn... Here I thought they had servers in SA which would hopefully avoid that issue.

Nope.

PlayStation South Africa doesn’t exist contrary to what many people think.

We are a virtual island off the coast of the UK with a direct currency conversion in the background.

But PSN is crap slow all across the world, Sony doesn’t understand networking.

Switched from ps4 to xbox this year and also agree that xbox is way faster on downloads than ps4. I was curious about this and did some research, from what I can make of it PlayStation does this to make sure when the system is downloading you still have some bandwidth to do other stuff.
 
Glad to see that it's not changed, it was slow on the PS3 and seems it's carried over.
 
Thanks for all the insight. It is really bad at the moment. It will go full speed and then just die. Rather frustrating.
